Job description

Environmental ManagerPosition Summary

Colorado Network Staffing (CNS) is seeking an experienced Environmental Manager to support a federal construction project at Grand Canyon National Park's North Rim. This position oversees environmental compliance throughout all phases of construction, ensuring work is performed in accordance with contract requirements, National Park Service (NPS) regulations, environmental permits, and applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws.

The Environmental Manager monitors field activities, conducts environmental inspections, coordinates with project management, subcontractors, and government representatives, and implements measures to protect natural resources while supporting project objectives. Experience with federal construction, wastewater treatment facilities, heavy civil construction, utility infrastructure, and remote project environments is strongly preferred.


Essential FunctionsEnvironmental Compliance
  • Manage and implement the project's Environmental Management Program in accordance with contract requirements and environmental permits.

  • Ensure compliance with National Park Service (NPS), federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

  • Monitor construction activities to minimize impacts to natural resources, wildlife, vegetation, cultural resources, and surrounding ecosystems.

  • Conduct routine environmental inspections and document compliance with project requirements.

  • Identify environmental risks and implement corrective actions to address deficiencies.

Project Coordination
  • Collaborate with project management, subcontractors, government representatives, and regulatory agencies to ensure environmental compliance throughout the project.

  • Review environmental plans, permits, specifications, and contract requirements before construction activities begin.

  • Coordinate environmental monitoring activities and ensure permit conditions are met.

  • Support project planning efforts to reduce environmental impacts while maintaining project schedules.

Documentation & Reporting
  • Maintain environmental records, inspection reports, permits, corrective action logs, and compliance documentation.

  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly environmental reports as required by the contract.

  • Track environmental incidents, corrective actions, and permit compliance.

  • Support environmental audits and government inspections.

Training & Safety
  • Provide environmental compliance training and guidance to project personnel and subcontractors.

  • Promote environmental stewardship and sustainable construction practices.

  • Support OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and overall site safety initiatives in coordination with project leadership.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualificationsย 

Required Qualificationsย 

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Natural Resources, Biology, or a related field, or equivalent experience.ย 
  • Minimum of five (5) years of environmental compliance experience supporting construction or infrastructure projects.ย 
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.ย 
  • Experience conducting environmental inspections, monitoring, and compliance reporting.ย 
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.ย 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.ย 
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.ย 

Preferred Qualificationsย 

  • Experience supporting federal construction projects for agencies such as the National Park Service (NPS), U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Bureau of Reclamation, or other federal agencies.
  • Experience with wastewater treatment facilities, heavy civil construction, utility infrastructure, or environmental restoration projects.ย ย 
  • Experience working in remote or environmentally sensitive project locations.ย 
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Certification.ย 
  • Knowledge of NEPA, Clean Water Act, Clean Air Act, Endangered Species Act, and other applicable environmental regulations.ย

Work Environmentย

Physical Demandsย

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Work schedules may include extended hours, weekends, or overtime as necessary to support project milestones and seasonal construction activities.ย 

Travelย 

Travel to and from the project site is required. This position requires working at a remote project location for the duration of the project.ย 

Work Authorization / Security Clearanceย 

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.ย 
  • Ability to successfully pass a federal background investigation if required by the contract.ย 
  • Must maintain eligibility to access federal project sites.ย
