Description
A.T. Still University's Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine (ATSU-KCOM) family medicine program is seeking an Assistant/Associate Professor/Family Medicine Physician to serve as a core faculty member. The family medicine residency was established in 1975 building on the holistic rural medical education that has been delivered here since Andrew Taylor Still MD opened the first school of osteopathic medicine in Kirksville in 1892. This core faculty will provide clinical supervision, teaching and role modeling for to the family medicine residents and osteopathic medical students. This position will directly support addressing the population healthcare needs this rural community in northeast Missouri.
Requirements
This position reports to the Family Medicine Program Director and Executive Director of Practice Management. This core faculty will provide clinical supervision, teaching, and role modeling for the family medicine residents and osteopathic medical students. This position will directly support addressing the population healthcare needs of this rural community in northeast Missouri. Additionally, this position will teach courses and course prep work for our medical students locally in the department of Family Medicine, Preventive Medicine & Community Health.
This is an employed position consisting of 40% dedicated clinical time, 30-40% teaching/precepting, and 20-30% residency administration/research time. A 0.4 FTE position would be 3 half days of supervising residents in the ambulatory clinic and one half day for evaluation, didactics, and program administration.
Ideal candidate should expect:

Major Job Duties
- Provide supervision and assessment of residents in the Family Medicine Residency Program.
- Provides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment for a specified patient population.
- Trains and supervises medical students assigned to the clinic.
- Participate in GMEC, subcommittees, task forces, and special and/or internal review committees as requested.
- Work with other Family Medicine faculty to ensure a positive learning climate.
- Participate in recruitment and selection of resident candidates.
- Facilitate residents' participation in the educational and scholarly activities.
- Directs and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing and support staff as required.
- Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards.
- Provides comprehensive medical services for patients on a continuing basis.
- Provides supervision of residents and students in the program.
- Completes assessment of trainees as requested.
- Works with the program director and other faculty to ensure the program meets ACGME standards.
- Participates in departmental and residency program meetings and committees, as assigned.
- Assist in clinical presentation development; this includes integration of case and clinical presentation formats in the current curriculum and development of cases for evolving curriculum.
- Assist in the identification of assessment issues and in the response and resolution to those issues as they effect KCOM students and faculty.
- Assist in the revisions, development and presentation of policies affecting KCOM students and faculty (i.e. learning disabilities policy, Promotion Board changes, etc.)
- Interview KCOM applicants, serve on committees and other duties assigned by the chairperson, associate dean or dean.
- Participate in faculty development which supports professional goals as a medical educator and leader
- Develop learning objectives, lecture materials and test questions associated with coursework related to existing curricular aspects of internal medicine.
- Submit annual Faculty Activity Report.
Education/Training
- Must have a DO or MD.
- Must be a Board-Certified Family Physician through either the AOA or ABMS.
- Federal DEA Certification
- An active physician medical license
- Clinical teaching experience
