Position Summary
The Product Designer is responsible for designing innovative toys, activity kits, novelty compounds, and creative play products that delight consumers and bring Goliath's brands to life. This role develops product concepts from ideation through production by creating digital renderings, physical prototypes, and manufacturing-ready designs while collaborating closely with cross-functional teams.
The Product Designer partners with Product Development, Creative, Sales, Marketing, and domestic and international manufacturing partners to ensure products are engaging, commercially viable, and ready for market.
Key Responsibilities
Product Design & Innovation
  • Design engaging toys, activity kits, novelty compounds, and related consumer products that align with Goliath's brands and target audiences
  • Develop creative product concepts that balance innovation, play value, manufacturability, and cost objectives
  • Create digital renderings, CAD models, and physical prototypes to communicate design intent and evaluate concepts
  • Refine product designs through testing, feedback, and iterative development
Product Development
  • Translate concepts into production-ready product specifications and manufacturing documentation
  • Collaborate with Product Development and Engineering to ensure products meet functional, safety, quality, and cost requirements
  • Review prototypes and production samples, providing recommendations for improvements throughout the development process
  • Support projects from initial concept through final production and launch
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner closely with the Art Director, Product Development, Sales, Marketing, and fellow designers throughout the product development lifecycle
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute innovative ideas for new products and line extensions
  • Present concepts, prototypes, and design solutions to internal stakeholders
  • Incorporate cross-functional feedback while maintaining design integrity and project objectives
Vendor & Manufacturing Support
  • Work with domestic and overseas manufacturing partners to source materials and develop products for production
  • Communicate design requirements, review manufacturing samples, and help resolve production challenges
  • Ensure products meet design intent while remaining manufacturable and cost-effective
Retail & Visual Design
  • Design layouts and creative concepts for retail displays, merchandising solutions, and trade show exhibits
  • Support visual presentations that showcase products and strengthen Goliath's retail presence
  • Contribute graphic design elements for products and presentations as needed

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Product Design, Industrial Design, or a related field
  • Experience in product design required; experience in toys, arts & crafts, activities, or consumer products preferred
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop
  • Strong understanding of product development processes from concept through manufacturing
  • Excellent creative thinking, visualization, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize deadlines, and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and external vendors
  • Graphic design experience is a plus
