jobย purpose:ย ย Theย Product Development Technologist supports the development, optimization, and commercialization of dairy products through hands-on laboratory and pilot plant activities as a member of the Product Development team. Working collaboratively in R&D, as well as with cross-functional partners, this role contributes to new product development, product maintenance, product improvement, and continuous improvement initiatives across multiple product lines. Responsibilities include formulation development, ingredient evaluation, analytical and functional testing, scale-up activities, technical documentation, and data analysis to support successful product launches. The Product Development Technologist ensures laboratory activities are conductedย in accordance withย quality, food safety, and regulatory requirements.ย
responsibilities:ย ย
- Develops and prepares product prototypes using laboratory and pilot plant equipment to support research and development activitiesย
- Selects and appliesย appropriate methodologiesย for project execution and contributes to the design and implementation of experimental plansย
- Assistsย with pilot plant trials, scale-up activities, and production validations to support commercialization and successful product launches.ย
- Sets up,ย operates,ย andย maintainsย laboratory and pilot plant equipment to ensureย accurateย andย efficient testingย
- Participates in product benchmarking and sensory evaluations to assess product quality, performance, and competitive positioning.ย
- Conducts analytical and functional testing of ingredients including raw and processed dairy,ย utilizingย laboratory instrumentation; Analyzes, and interprets experimental data to support project recommendations and decision-making.ย
- Maintainsย accurateย laboratory notebooks, test records, and technical documentationย in accordance withย company procedures.ย
- Prepares summaries, reports, and presentations to communicate project findings and recommendations.ย
- Coordinates with suppliers and internal stakeholders, including other company locations, toย procureย materials and support project needsย
- Receives and organizes incoming deliveries in support of laboratory operationsย
- Sources ingredients and manages laboratory inventory to ensure availabilityย of materials for ongoing projectsย
- Maintains a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in compliance with company and regulatory standardsย
skills/qualifications required:ย ย
- Bachelor's degree in food science, Dairy Science, Chemistry, Biology or related discipline requiredย
- 0-2ย years' experienceย in the food industry (Dairy applications is a plus)ย
- Ability to handle ambiguity and work in aย fast paced, entrepreneurial environmentย
- Ability to work autonomously and adapt to changes in scheduleย
- Proficiencyย in English: Comfortable with both written and verbal communication, including reading and writing.ย

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a lab and pilot plant environment where the noise level is usuallyย moderate, butย can be high.ย PPE isย requiredย in certain situations and will be provided.ย ย
- Be flexible with hours and scheduling, ability to work all shifts including extended hours as needed (up to 12 hours due to certain trial work)ย
