Amalgamated Insurance Underwriters is a young, rapidly growing and successful property and casualty insurance wholesaler . We sell exclusively to agencies and have developed a niche product with a unique selling proposition .

Based in Rockland County New York, we are looking to hire an Operations Manager to lead our expanding operations team including the functions of underwriting, quoting and binding. .

You will serve as the primary Subject Matter Expert and team leader for our Rockland County based sales team and will responsible for the daily operation of the back office.

Our niche product holds a very strong position in the marketplace as;

  • Our exclusive property program is limited to well-managed multi-family properties and hotels.
  • Our rates are 15% - 20% below market, quoting and binding is superfast and easy, and coverage is provided by Lloyd's of London.
  • We are currently in 32 states and growing rapidly.
  • Our growth is driven by building relationships with commercial property & casualty insurance agents across the country.
  • The program has literally been selling itself




Job Description
  • Manage, coach and mentor our expanding group of operations professionals supporting our Wholesale E&S P&C product.
  • Implement best practices in the areas of quoting, binding and underwriting.
  • Serve as an escalation point for partner agencies for operational issues.
  • Provide market feedback for senior executives as appropriate.
  • Oversee scheduling, time off etc. taking into account business needs.
  • Serve as a technical or business resource for the sales team as appropriate
  • Work together with our technology team to improve our technology work flow and technology systems



Qualifications
  • Deep experience (5+ years) in Insurance back office operations
  • Experience managing multi functional teams in a growing environment (your team will have 6 employees to start but is rapidly growing).
  • Strong technical knowledge of underwriting, binding and quoting in the Excess and Surplus markets.
  • An interest in implementing best practices.
  • The ability to work hand in hand with our technology team to ensure and effective and scalable technology system (we currently use Tech Canary)
