ERM is seeking a Consulting Senior Associate, Sustainable Operations to join our growing team in Hartford. In this role, you will support technically challenging environmental compliance projects for leading industrial and global clients while developing your project management and consulting expertise. This is an excellent opportunity to collaborate with experienced professionals and make a meaningful impact on environmental performance and regulatory compliance.

As a member of ERM's Sustainable Operations team, you will help clients navigate complex environmental compliance requirements while contributing to safer, more sustainable operations. You will work alongside technical experts on a diverse portfolio of projects, gaining exposure to regulatory programs, environmental management systems, and consulting best practices.
What Your Impact Is:
  • Provide technical assistance on EHS compliance projects.
  • Prepare plans, permits, and reports for hazardous waste, air quality, storm water, NPDES, wastewater, spill prevention, and EPCRA Tier II and TRI programs.
  • Perform environmental compliance assessments and implement follow-up corrective actions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Provide general environmental compliance support to clients, including on-site assistance, as needed.
  • Compile and evaluate data and assist in report preparation.
  • Perform multiple projects within scope, budget, and schedule expectations while ensuring quality standards for project deliverables.
  • Support ERM Partners-in-Charge and Project Managers in the effective management of projects.

What You'll Bring:
Required
  • BS in Chemical, Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, or related degree; MS and/or PE preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant environmental experience or professional internships.
  • Strong hands-on spreadsheet and database comprehension.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management skills and a naturally inquisitive mindset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, as well as strong organizational and analytical abilities; experience recording and writing detailed technical data and reports is a plus.
  • This position is not eligible for immigration sponsorship.

Preferred
  • Master's degree in a related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.
  • Experience supporting environmental compliance programs across multiple regulatory areas.
  • Consulting experience supporting industrial or commercial clients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support environmental, health, and safety compliance projects for a diverse client base.
  • Develop environmental permits, plans, compliance reports, and technical documentation.
  • Conduct environmental compliance assessments and support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Analyze environmental data and assist with technical report preparation.
  • Coordinate project tasks to meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
  • Collaborate with ERM project teams, Partners-in-Charge, and Project Managers to deliver client solutions.
  • Provide on-site environmental compliance support as needed.

For the Consulting Associate, Sustainable Operations position, the anticipated annual base pay is $64,584-$79,751 (USD). Actual pay will depend on factors such as education, experience, skills, location, performance, and business needs. In some cases, pay may fall outside this range. This role may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/flex force employees are not bonus eligible).
