Job description

As a property and casualty insurance claims advisor, you help serve and maintain business relationships with members and clients for all claims. You handle high-complexity property insurance claims and medium-complexity accident benefit and bodily injury claims. You investigate and approve claims. You solve problems using your analytical skills and extensive discipline-specific knowledge. You draw on your sound decision-making to develop solutions, negotiate claims settlements and enter into agreements with members, clients, third parties and others. You advise and assist clients, represent Desjardins and enter the organization into important agreements with clients. Interpersonal savvy is therefore essential. More specifically, you will be required to:

  • Conduct investigations and inspections to assess damage, estimate costs and market value, and produce and review reports and other documents to determine settlement amounts
  • Analyze medical, financial and job information and determine eligibility for benefits based on statutory criteria
  • Settle claims in accordance with the organization's standards, policies and quality commitments as well as the contract terms. Meet deadlines to ensure client satisfaction and avoid penalties
  • Negotiate with all parties involved to ensure smooth claims processing.
