What are insurance internships?

Insurance internships are short-term, supervised work experiences offered by insurance companies or related organizations to students or recent graduates. These internships provide hands-on exposure to various aspects of the insurance industry, such as underwriting, claims, risk assessment, and customer service. Interns gain practical skills, industry knowledge, and professional networking opportunities that can help them pursue a career in insurance after graduation.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in an insurance internship, and why are they important?

To thrive in an Insurance Internship, you need a fundamental understanding of insurance concepts, strong analytical abilities, and progress toward a degree in business, finance, or a related field. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and exposure to insurance management systems or data analysis tools are beneficial. Strong communication, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn make an intern stand out. These skills and qualities are crucial for supporting team projects, understanding industry operations, and building a foundation for a successful insurance career.

What kind of projects or tasks can I expect to work on during an insurance internship?

As an insurance intern, you can expect to be involved in a variety of projects and tasks that provide a broad overview of the industry. Common responsibilities include assisting with claims processing, conducting research on policies and regulations, supporting customer service teams, and analyzing risk assessments. You may also have opportunities to work with experienced underwriters or agents, attend team meetings, and contribute to ongoing projects. This hands-on experience is designed to help you understand different aspects of the insurance business and develop valuable industry skills.

Job description

Join a locally owned Great Clips® salon team and start building real-world salon experience while you're still in school. The Hair Stylist Intern role is designed for cosmetology and barber students who want to learn what salon life is really like, connect with a professional team, and prepare for a smooth transition into a licensed stylist role after graduation.
This opportunity is ideal for students who are curious, motivated, and excited to grow their skills in a supportive salon environment.
Congratulations on completing cosmetology school! Are you ready to start your apprenticeship and launch your career? Triangle Holdings is here to support you. We offer paid in-salon training and virtual training with a Great Clips educator. As an apprentice, you can earn $18-$25 per hour, including commission on services and products. We also provide medical insurance, short-term disability, and retirement benefits. If this sounds like the opportunity you've been looking for, we'd love to hear from you!
Why you'll love it here
Great Clips salons offer internship experiences that help students learn, grow, and feel confident stepping into the industry:

  • Hands-on learning around salon operations, customer service, and teamwork
  • Opportunities to observe and support haircutting and finishing techniques, as allowed by state regulations
  • Experience using salon systems, tools, and technology
  • A supportive setting to ask questions, learn expectations, and understand day-to-day salon life
  • A pathway to future opportunities as a licensed stylist, where available

Program structure, scheduling, and responsibilities may vary by salon location, as internship programs are created and managed by individual Great Clips salon organizations.

About Great Clips

Sourced by ZipRecruiter

Great Clips, Inc. was established in Minneapolis, Minnesota by founders David Rubenzer and Steve Lemmon in 1982, a time when most people received haircuts in one of three ways: in full-service hair salons, from barbershops or at home. As a stylist and businessman, David could see that the industry was changing. Customers were looking for a hair salon service that could fit their busy lifestyles and desire for value. To be part of that change – rather than find themselves competing with it – David and Steve developed the then-radical concept of a walk-in haircare salon with weekend and evening hours, offering customers a select list of services, and providing benefits for stylists. After the founders opened several successful hair salons, Ray Barton joined David and Steve as an owner in March 1983. With Ray's help and expertise in franchising, the trio set about growing the Great Clips hair salon brand. That success continues through today.
