Job description

STATUS: Full Time
STARTING PAY: Based on experience.
HOURS: Monday thru Friday 7:00 am to 5:00pm; occasional Saturdays based on construction activities. NOTE: Inspectors hours could bealtered by the project's construction work hours.
LOCATION: Greater New Orleans and Baton Rouge area
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
• Minimum1 year road or bridge construction experience, preferred experience with theCity of New Orleans, Jefferson Parish and LADOTD specifications
• Preferred:certified as either Traffic Control Technician or Traffic Control Supervisorwith Flagger card.
• Preferred:ProCore experience
JOB PREREQUISITES:
Candidate will be required to pass a physical and drug test, and must maintain an acceptable driving record while employed.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
• Inspectors make site observations to document thatconstruction is performed according to detailed contract requirements,including plans, and contract and specification conformance.
• Dutiesinclude inspecting work being performed by the contractor for compliance withplans and specifications, inspecting for quality workmanship, preparing fielddiary which includes all daily activities each day along with other projectinformation, measuring quantities of work, and documenting items of workperformed in field books (which may be computer based), including measuredquantities, location, date, etc.
• Inspectors inspect for quality, based on visualinspection, sampling, and testing of materials.
• Inspectors may be required, take photographs, filereports, and perform field sampling, and measure and document quantities ofwork-performed daily.
• Inspectors shall record findings in field logs book orcomputer. Use of Microsoft Word and PDF isrequired.
• Inspection sites are dirty and may be cluttered withtools, materials, or debris. Inspectors may have to walk, climb, crawl, bendand lift and are required to be in good physical conditions. Jobsite safety isa top priority.
• Inspectionof highway work may be required at times, including serving as the principalinspector on the project.
• Inaddition to inspection duties, some review of the construction layout will berequired.
• Dutiescould require nighttime inspection and out of town travel and extended staysfor projects in Louisiana.
• Dutiescould/will include climbing of ladders, stairs and working at heights
• Employeesare expected to participate in proactive team efforts to achieve company goalsand to assist in any duties required to deliver a quality product on schedule.
