What is an insurance inspector?

Insurance inspectors are professionals who assess properties, vehicles, or businesses to evaluate risks and determine the appropriate insurance coverage or premiums. They conduct on-site inspections, review safety measures, and document their findings to help insurance companies make informed decisions about issuing or renewing policies. Insurance inspectors may specialize in areas such as property, casualty, or health insurance, and their work helps prevent fraud and ensures clients meet policy requirements.

What does an insurance inspector do?

As an insurance inspector, your responsibilities and duties at an insurance company include examining and assessing a potential new client request and recommending whether or not their situation is worth the risk to your employer. You may specialize in a specific type of insurance, like home, business, auto, or life insurance. Insurance inspectors may visit the potential client and collect information regarding the person, structure, or another subject to be insured; this may include interviews and photos. Your job is to accurately gather and present information so that the insurance company can decide if the risk is work taking or not.

What are some common challenges faced by insurance inspectors in the field?

Insurance Inspectors often encounter challenges such as assessing properties in adverse weather, keeping up with evolving industry regulations, and managing a high volume of inspections efficiently. They must also balance thorough documentation with time constraints and sometimes deal with uncooperative property owners. Strong communication skills, adaptability, and attention to detail are crucial for overcoming these challenges and ensuring accurate risk assessments.

What is the difference between Insurance Inspector vs Claims Adjuster?

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an insurance inspector, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Insurance Inspector, you need a strong understanding of risk assessment, property evaluation, and industry regulations, typically supported by a background in insurance or related fields. Familiarity with specialized inspection software, digital reporting tools, and sometimes relevant certifications like AINS (Associate in General Insurance) is important. Attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills help inspectors accurately report findings and interact with clients. These competencies ensure thorough, reliable inspections that minimize risk for insurance providers and build client trust.

Job description

Division: Roadrunner Vehicle Inspectors

#186S

Our team consists of professionals who support each other, have a good eye for detail, quick hand eye coordination to work on their hand-held devices and are motivated by maximizing their earning potential.ย  They are reliable and able to travel as our business requires it to continue our growth.ย  Growth for us means growth for you!ย  If you like to work independently in the American Automotive industry and are able to travel this might be a good fit for you!ย

About Roadrunner Vehicle Inspectors RVI:
We are the fastest growing independent vehicle inspection company in the country.ย  We've had relationships for over 15 years servicing auto auctions and dealerships across North America. Some of our clients include Cox Automotive or Manheim Auctions, KAR Global or ADESA auctions, America's Xlerate Auto Auctions, Auto-Vin, Backlot Cars, Carvana, General Motors Financial, Ally Bank, Smart Auction, Hertz and Enterprise Rental Car and many others. Our Corporate office is based out of Hendersonville, TN.ย
Our Inspectors, sometimes known as CR Writers are independent 1099 contractors paid by the number of vehicles they inspect each day.ย  We are known for being high volume vehicle inspectors.ย  The vehicles we inspect are all located on one lot for the most part at each assignment and we do not service the general public or vehicle inspections which take place at homes.ย  This makes for a very efficient day and productive day for earnings.ย
Our inspectors' average wages range from $72,000 -$125,000 once training and assessments are completed which is the equivalent of an hourly average of about $35-$60 or $1400-$2400 per week if production goals are met.ย  Your earnings are based on how efficient you are and how proficient you are with a handheld device to complete the inspection on.ย ย

Scope of Work:ย
Perform digital inspection (aka electronic condition report or CR) for each vehicle at assigned
facilities - car auctions or occasional retail sites.
Document the vehicle condition of the interior, exterior, trunk area, engine compartment and undercarriage of the vehicle, etc. using drop down menus and typing text

Travel: 100% out of state travel, we assist with hotel arrangements and expense (board and flight).ย  While we try to keep our inspectors close to home, we are rapidly growing and auctions typically ask us for help they weren't expecting until the last minute.ย  Therefore, it is a necessity to be able to travel up to 90% of the time out of state. If you are unwilling or unable to travel due to personal circumstances, this is probably not a good fit for you.

Training Rate: $15 per hourย
