Role Summary

The Insurance Specialist supports JE Dunn's enterprise risk management efforts by providing technical insurance expertise, operational process management, and internal consulting support across projects, regions, and offices. This role serves as a key resource for construction insurance programs, including but not limited to Builders Risk and liability insurance; manages certificate of insurance (COI); assisting with vendor relationships; and collaborating closely with Legal, IT, regional leadership, and third-party providers to ensure effective risk transfer and compliance. All activities will be performed in support of the strategy, vision and values of JE Dunn.

  • Autonomy & Decision-Making: Makes decisions on non-routine matters, provides recommendations to supervisor, and refers all exceptions to supervisor.

Key Role Responsibilities - Core
  • Serves as a primary resource for general construction project insurance questions across JE Dunn, providing guidance to regional offices, project teams, and internal partners.
  • Serves as subject matter expert for various liability insurance lines, including Controlled Insurance Programs (CIPS)
  • Coordinates with Project Teams, Third party program administrators, brokers and insurers on project kick-off, setup activities and project tracking and reviews
  • Responds to internal questions regarding insurance structure, coverage and administration
  • Reviews, addresses or escalates exception requests related to insurance participation and compliance
  • Provides technical expertise and process management for property-type coverages, including but not limited to Builders Risk insurance
  • Coordinates the quoting, pricing, placement and renewal of coverages
  • Monitors the quality of broker and project processes, interface, timeliness, and accuracy
  • Supports the Certificate of Insurance processes, providing COI to constituents, assistance on third-party COI platforms and coordination with legal teams on insurance-related matters
  • May provide recommendations on complex or non-standard insurance compliance issues
  • Coordinate insurance policy tracking and filling regardless of source, including policies placed by JE Dunn, Owners/Clients, and Joint Venture partners, and maintain tracking process for high profile and/or unique pursuits
  • Support Risk Management department initiatives related to technology, data management, and AI usage, including collaboration with the company's IT department.
  • Participate in the development and delivery of regional and office-level risk management and insurance training

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and stakeholders. 
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex insurance concepts in practical, plain-language terms. 
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, IT, Operations, and external partners.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field (Preferred)

Experience
  • 2+ years insurance industry experience with emphasis in construction insurance (Required)
