Overview

We are seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to join our Tax department in Sugar Land, TX. Reporting to the Tax Director, this individual contributor role supports the Company's multi-state tax compliance function, ensuring federal, state, and local tax obligations are met accurately and on time.

The Senior Tax Analyst carries a multi-state and consolidated scope, encompassing indirect tax compliance as well as income tax and provision support in coordination with external advisory firms. The Senior Tax Analyst is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation and filing of tax returns, the maintenance of organized tax records, and the delivery of data and analytical support necessary to meet the Company's compliance and reporting obligations.

Work Location and Schedule

The Senior Tax Analyst is a full-time role based at our Sugar Land, TX office.  Minimum 3 days per week, with up to 2 days of work-from-home. 

What You'll Do
  • Prepare and assist with U.S. and Canadian federal and state/provincial estimated payments, extensions, income tax returns, and supporting computations
  • Support the annual financial reporting process, including preparation of the tax accrual and related supporting computations
  • Analyze annual fixed asset activity and maintain tax asset records in FAS tax depreciation software
  • Prepare tax journal entries, including month-end close entries
  • Reconcile general ledger balance sheet accounts for all tax types and monitor tax-related expense accounts for proper coding
  • Prepare U.S. and Canadian transaction tax returns for monthly, quarterly, and annual filings, including sales/use, gross receipts, and consumer taxes
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and outside service providers on property tax compliance, including renditions, assessments, appeals, and related notices
  • Complete resale and exemption certificates, and maintain organized records of certificates issued and received
  • Conduct tax research related to business activities, including income tax and sales/use tax implications, and support ad hoc projects as needed
  • Support U.S. federal and state, and Canadian federal and provincial, tax audits by maintaining organized, audit-ready tax records, workpapers, and documentation

What You'll Bring

Experience

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in a relevant tax role 

Education, Licenses, and Certifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field required 

Nice to Have

  • Public accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with FAS Tax Depreciation software preferred
  • Experience with SAP and OneSource Tax Provision software preferred 
  • CPA preferred
