S&ME is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic experienced leader with a background in Construction Materials Testing as a Field Supervisor to become part of our Construction Services team in Myrtle Beach and Florence, South Carolina. As a Construction Materials Field Supervisor, you will oversee a dedicated team of construction materials testing professionals, managing daily operations across multiple project sites. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring project success through top-notch testing services, fostering strong client relationships, and enhancing operational efficiency. You will balance team management with personal project contributions, ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency. Your leadership will be key in client coordination, managing multiple projects concurrently, and upholding the highest safety standards.

Your Day-to-Day:

  • Direction and Scheduling: Provide supervision and oversight to field staff, organize schedules with clients and contractors, and manage personnel for field assignments.
  • Coordination: Frequently coordinate with Services Managers and Project Managers on the progress of current and upcoming projects.
  • Training and Certifications: Train staff on field testing and inspections, oversee certification opportunities, and maintain a summary of current employee certifications.
  • Safety: Lead safety efforts for field staff, conduct regular safety meetings, and coach staff on the use of PPE and safety protocols.
  • Equipment and Quality: Ensure staff have appropriate testing equipment, assist with equipment maintenance and calibration, and support the Quality Assurance Supervisor.

What You Bring:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical engineering or a construction-related field is a plus
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in construction materials testing/inspecting of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt
    • Experience in a supervisory or management role
  • Active Construction Materials industry certifications, such as:
    • American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician, and/or International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils), a plus
  • Strong communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

You are willing and able to perform the physical demands of this position with the use of Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment, such as:

  • Working the majority of the time outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Walking over rough, uneven terrain and standing for potentially long periods
  • Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
  • Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
