Job description

RK&K is seeking dedicated and strong Roadway Construction Inspectors for our wide range of Construction projects in Wilmington and Georgetown, Delaware. CEI/Construction Inspectors conduct various field inspection and monitoring activities on roadway related structures to ensure compliance with safety regulations. Ideal candidates will have at least three years inspection experience including roadway and structure construction methods, materials, standards and specifications. But we will train professionals with construction related experience.
Essential Function
  • Conduct field inspections and monitoring of roadway structures to ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Fully engage in solving problems to provide technical evaluation and sound solutions
  • Record-keeping, scheduling and reporting as required
  • Multitask management of project assignments
  • Ability to work independently with limited daily oversight
  • Ability to communicate effectively across different platforms with project management, clients, stakeholders, and contractors
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products

Required Skills and Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have experience working on live and closed construction sites, preferably commercial or transportation related facilities
  • Experience with basic safety procedures and willingness to learn and follow advance safety protocol
  • Valid Drivers License and favorable driving record
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • DelDOT material certifications highly preferred
  • At least three years of roadway/building inspection experience for construction methods, materials, standards and specifications
  • Knowledge of construction management/inspection services industry, challenges and competitors
  • Understanding of QA/QC methods

Physical Demands
This role requires the ability to perform field inspections on active construction sites. The employee must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, navigate uneven terrain, and climb ladders or stairs. Ability to lift and carry inspection equipment and materials weighing up to 20-30 pounds on an occasional basis, with or without reasonable accommodation. Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and may include exposure to construction-related hazards.
