Job description

The Licensed Insurance Sales Producer is responsible for driving new business growth by developing relationships with prospective customers, identifying insurance needs, and recommending Farmers insurance solutions. This role focuses on new customer acquisition, cross-selling existing clients, and contributing to the agency's overall profitability through Personal Lines, Commercial, and Life insurance production.

The ideal candidate is a highly motivated sales professional with excellent communication skills, a competitive mindset, and a passion for helping customers protect what matters most.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Prospect daily using referrals, community networking, digital leads, call campaigns, and center-of-influence marketing.

  • Build and maintain a consistent sales pipeline through proactive outreach and follow-up.

  • Conduct comprehensive insurance reviews to identify coverage gaps and recommend appropriate solutions.

  • Quote, bind, and issue new Farmers insurance policies.

  • Sell and service:

    • Personal Auto

    • Homeowners

    • Renters

    • Condo

    • Umbrella

    • Specialty products

    • Life insurance

    • Business insurance, including Business Owners Policies (BOP), General Liability, Commercial Auto, Commercial Property, and Workers' Compensation.

  • Cross-sell existing customers to increase household penetration and improve client retention.

  • Meet activity expectations for outbound calls, appointments, and quotes.

  • Maintain accurate documentation within the agency CRM and management systems.

  • Stay current on Farmers products, underwriting guidelines, and compliance requirements.

  • Participate in agency training, sales meetings, and coaching sessions.

Production Expectations

Personal Lines Production

  • Generate $30,000-$40,000 in monthly annualized premium (MAP).

  • Write approximately 25-35 new Personal Lines policies per month, depending on product mix.

  • Maintain a quote-to-bind ratio that meets agency standards.

Life Insurance Production

  • Produce 7-10 life insurance policies per month.

  • Target $500-$1,000 in monthly life premium or agency-established annualized life production goals.

  • Present a life insurance solution during every eligible customer review and new business opportunity.

Commercial/Business Insurance Production

  • Write 3-5 new commercial policies per month.

  • Generate $10,000-$20,000 in monthly commercial written premium.

  • Identify commercial opportunities within the personal lines customer base and local business community.

Sales Activity Expectations

Successful producers consistently achieve the following weekly activity goals:

  • 125-175 outbound prospecting calls

  • 20-30 qualified customer conversations

  • 12-15 scheduled appointments

  • 20-25 insurance quotes

  • 8-10 new policies written

  • Daily follow-up on pending quotes and referrals

  • Request referrals from every satisfied customer

Performance Metrics

Performance will be evaluated based on:

  • Monthly Annualized Premium (MAP)

  • Personal Lines production

  • Life insurance production

  • Commercial insurance production

  • Cross-sell percentage

  • Household policy count

  • Quote-to-bind conversion rate

  • Retention and persistency

  • Customer satisfaction

  • CRM activity and documentation

  • Compliance with Farmers underwriting and agency procedures

Qualifications

  • Active Property & Casualty Insurance License (required)

  • Active Life Insurance License or willingness to obtain within 90 days (preferred)

  • Prior insurance or sales experience preferred

  • Strong prospecting and closing skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication

  • Self-motivated, goal-oriented, and competitive

  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment

  • Comfortable using CRM systems and insurance agency technology
