Job Description
The Copywriter will develop compelling, clear, and engaging content across Visa's newsroom and digital channels. This role supports Visa's storytelling efforts by translating complex topics-such as technology, innovation, business, and payments-into accessible, audience-first narratives across formats.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer and editor with sharp editorial judgment, a deep understanding of tone and voice, and the ability to collaborate closely with editorial, channel, and cross-functional partners. This role balances creativity with discipline, ensuring content meets Visa's brand, editorial standards, and performance goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Content Creation & Storytelling:
  • Write and edit high-quality content across multiple formats, including articles, blog posts, social copy, headlines, scripts, and short-form digital content.
  • Develop clear and compelling narratives that translate complex or technical subjects into engaging, accessible stories for diverse audiences.
  • Support newsroom content, thought leadership, and digital storytelling initiatives across Visa's owned channels.

Channel & Audience Adaptation:
  • Adapt content for different platforms, formats, and audiences in partnership with editorial and channel strategy teams.
  • Ensure content is optimized for the channel it is published on, while maintaining a consistent narrative and voice across touchpoints.
  • Collaborate closely with social, web, and communications teams to align messaging and execution.

Editorial Excellence & Brand Voice:
  • Ensure all copy aligns with Visa's brand voice, tone, and editorial standards.
  • Maintain a high bar for clarity, accuracy, grammar, and storytelling quality across all deliverables.
  • Apply editorial judgment to refine messaging, structure, and narrative flow.

Collaboration & Cross-functional Partnership:
  • Partner with editorial, regional and market leads, subject-matter experts, designers, and channel owners to develop and refine content.
  • Participate in content planning discussions, offering guidance on storytelling approach and copy development.
  • Support integrated campaigns and cross-functional initiatives with consistent, audience-centric messaging.

Iteration & Performance-informed Refinement:
  • Revise and refine content based on editorial feedback, stakeholder input, and content performance insights.
  • Incorporate learnings from analytics and audience response to continuously improve clarity, engagement, and effectiveness.
  • Remain open to iteration and fast-paced revisions, especially for priority or timely content.

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications:
  • 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
  • 5-7+ years of experience in writing, content creation or communications.
  • Strong storytelling and writing skills across formats.
  • Ability to translate complex topics into engaging content.
  • Experience working in matrixed organizations with multiple competing priorities.
  • Experience operating at a senior level within a highly matrixed, global organization.
  • High-level of professional integrity and confidentiality.
  • Creative, positive, collaborative, and high-energy individual with an ability to execute.
  • Mix of agency and in-house experience strongly preferred.

U.S. Applicants Only
The estimated salary range for this position is $116,300.00 to $ 186,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.

This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.
