Job description

Join our creative team as a Culinary Copywriter and shape how customers discover and connect with food through compelling storytelling. You'll craft engaging copy across packaging, catering, digital platforms, and marketing campaigns that brings our culinary brands to life-combining your deep food knowledge with conceptual, strategic thinking to create messaging that resonates. This senior role reports directly to the Creative Director of Copy for Amazon Worldwide Grocery Stores (Whole Foods Market).
Please note: As part of the application process, you will be required to provide a portfolio of compelling culinary writing that demonstrates an approachable, relatable voice and a genuine passion for food. Candidates without a writing portfolio will not be considered.
Key job responsibilities
- Develop and lead copy strategy for Whole Foods Market catering and exclusive brands packaging, ensuring consistency with brand voice across all materials
- Write compelling content in multiple formats-including long-form editorial, UX copy, promotional emails, digital banners, paid media, and signage-tailored to each channel's unique requirements
- Collaborate with designers on creative direction, providing input on photography, design choices, and overall asset strength to ensure cohesive storytelling
- Present creative work to leadership, articulating strategic thinking and rationale behind copy decisions
- Manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards and meeting established deadlines
A day in the life
As a Culinary Copywriter, you'll spend your day immersed in the art of food storytelling. You might start by collaborating with our design team to conceptualize packaging copy for a new Whole Foods Market exclusive brand, then shift to drafting short, punchy copy for a digital banner campaign. You'll research ingredients and culinary techniques to build authentic context, then present your work to our Creative Director of Copy and senior leadership for feedback. Throughout the day, you'll balance multiple projects-from long-form editorial pieces to UI microcopy-while maintaining our distinctive brand voice across every touchpoint. You'll also have opportunities to respectfully challenge creative decisions and contribute strategic thinking to our broader marketing initiatives.
About the team
Our in-house creative team is a dynamic collective of writers, designers, and strategic thinkers who thrive on turning ideas into impactful brand experiences. Working directly under the VP of Creative and Design, we're the imaginative force behind Whole Foods Market brands. We're food-obsessed, customer-obsessed, fast-paced, highly collaborative, and multi-disciplinary - handling everything from brand development to content & editorial to photo shoots.
Our work spans: brand and product development, marketing campaigns (in-store and digital), TV, video, and radio campaigns, as well as strategic multi-brand initiatives.
