Job description

Chief Information Officer (CIO)

We are a law firm of approximately 220 professionals based in Los Angeles,

California. Technology is central to how we deliver legal services - we operate a

proprietary Salesforce-based platform that serves both clients and internal teams,

and we maintain an in-house development organization actively building and

expanding that platform. We are committed to technology-driven legal solutions

and are seeking an experienced technology executive to lead our information and

product development strategy.

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) will serve as the firm's senior technology

executive, providing strategic leadership across two distinct domains:

information governance, cybersecurity, and IT operations; and software product

development. The CIO will oversee our development organization -

including a Salesforce Certified Technical Architect, a Development Manager, and

a Project Manager - while also ensuring the firm's technology infrastructure,

client data, and enterprise systems are secure, compliant, and aligned with

business objectives.

The CIO will serve as a trusted advisor to firm leadership on technology strategy,

product development, cybersecurity, AI adoption, and digital transformation.

They will work closely with attorneys, operations leaders, and client-facing teams

to ensure technology investments drive meaningful improvements in service

delivery, operational efficiency, and competitive positioning.

  • Build and maintain a culture of security, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement across the technology organization.

Software Product Development & Engineering Leadership

  • Lead and grow a development organization, including direct oversight of a Development Manager, Project Manager, and a Salesforce Certified Technical Architect.
  • Own the product roadmap for the firm's proprietary Salesforce-based platform, balancing client-facing feature development with internal operational needs.
  • Drive software delivery excellence - establishing and maintaining engineering standards, release management practices, quality assurance, and development lifecycle processes.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, operations leaders, and client service teams to translate business requirements into software solutions that enhance the client experience and firm efficiency.
  • Make informed build-vs-buy decisions, evaluating third-party integrations and tools within the Salesforce and AWS ecosystem.
  • Oversee Salesforce platform licensing, architecture governance, and long-term platform scalability in partnership with the Chief Architect.

  • Develop and oversee governance frameworks for the responsible use of artificial intelligence across the firm, including within client-facing and internal software products.
  • Evaluate emerging AI technologies and identify opportunities to improve legal service delivery, client experience, operational efficiency, and software capabilities.
  • Establish policies governing AI usage, data privacy, model risk management, and ethical considerations in the legal context.

  • Lead enterprise data governance initiatives to improve data quality, accessibility, retention, and lifecycle management across Salesforce and integrated platforms.
  • Establish policies and procedures for information management, records retention, data classification, and information security.
  • Develop reporting and analytics capabilities to support data-driven decision making by firm leadership.

IT Operations & Infrastructure

  • Oversee all IT operations including network infrastructure, end-user support, hardware, and enterprise software systems.
  • Manage the firm's AWS cloud infrastructure in coordination with the development team and Chief Architect.
  • Evaluate and oversee strategic technology vendors, Salesforce licensing, and third-party service providers.
  • Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources across operations and development.

Compliance, Audit & Regulatory Readiness
