Why We Need You:
PEMCO has a dynamic and challenging opportunity for a Direct Insurance Agent to join our community. Direct Insurance Agents serve as first point of contact for prospective customers, helping them navigate their insurance needs and matching them with the right insurance products. They handle inbound leads, actively follow-up with prospects, consult with clients, and close sales while representing the PEMCO brand with integrity and enthusiasm.
What You'll Be Doing:
  • Handle inbound calls and warm leads - no cold calling required.
  • Follow-up with prospects via outbound activities including phone calls, emails, and text.
  • Consult with prospects and customers to assess their insurance needs.
  • Recommend appropriate coverage options and explain product benefits.
  • Convert leads into policies through persuasive communication.
  • Facilitate a structured onboarding journey that helps new customers understand their next steps and ensures timely completion of all required actions.
  • Maintain accurate records of customer interactions and sales.
  • Meet or exceed monthly sales targets and performance metrics.
  • Stay current on product offerings, licensing requirements, and industry trends.
  • Address customer complaints, providing empathetic and effective solutions to maintain high customer satisfaction.
  • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with PEMCO's policies, values, code of ethics and business conduct.
  • Authentically support the PEMCO Brand and constantly are on the lookout for top talent to join us to achieve our Mission to Worry Less and Live More.

What You'll Bring:
  • B.A. or B.S. degree (Business, Liberal Arts) or equivalent work experience is preferred
  • 2+ years of experience in sales, insurance industry and/or financial services roles is required
  • Property/Casualty License is required
  • Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) and/or Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation is preferred
  • Customer First: Has a relentless focus on the customer and dives deep into the challenges they face with a strong customer service orientation is required
  • MS Office: Skilled proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook is required
  • Job-specific: Comprehensive understanding of insurance carrier products, policy contracts, and underwriting guidelines. is required
  • Interpersonal Skills & Empathy: Builds relationships internally and externally and get results through influence rather than authority. Demonstrates authentic empathy, celebrates the joy and shows care for the challenges felt by others is required
  • Compliance: Knowledge and understanding of relevant laws, rules, and regulations is required
  • Communicator: The ability to communicate clearly and informatively, verbally and in writing, with colleagues, customers, and the community in both technical and non-technical professional language is required
  • Sales: Has a proven track record of revenue growth and sales success through negotiation; builds long-term customer relationships

Compensation:
The pay range for this role is shown below. Compensation decisions are determined based on an individual's qualifications, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Greater Seattle area target pay range: $72,237-$88,289. The full pay range is $60,197-$100,329
  • Outside greater Seattle area target pay range: $63,750-$77,916. The full pay range is $53,125-$88,541.

Greater Seattle Area is defined as working within approximately 100 miles of Seattle.
Outside Greater Seattle is defined as working approximately 100 miles or more from Seattle.
In addition to the base pay, all direct insurance agents are eligible for commission pay, currently up to 10% on eligible written premiums. The plan includes production-level tiers with increasing commission payout percentages as premium production increases.
Benefits:
Regular part-time PEMCO employees working at least 24 hours per week and regular full-time PEMCO employees are eligible to elect coverage under medical, dental, and vision plans for themselves and their eligible family members with generous employer premium cost shares. In addition, as a benefits-eligible employee, you are:
  • covered by employer-paid basic life and accidental death & dismemberment insurance policies as well as long- and short-term disability benefit coverages.
  • eligible to participate in PEMCO's 401(k) plan, which includes a generous employer match (2 for 1 on the first 6% employee pre-tax and/or Roth deferral, up to federal maximums).

PEMCO provides the following paid leave programs for benefits-eligible employees in their first year of PEMCO employment:
  • Vacation accrues at a rate of 10 days for new hires and increases based on a schedule to a maximum annual accrual of 25 days based on tenure.
  • Granted four (4) personal days immediately upon hire.
  • Paid holidays for the eight (8) holidays observed by PEMCO throughout the calendar year.
  • Granted up to ten (10) days of sick leave immediately upon hire (pro-rated based on hire date and full-time/part-time status), which is approximately 28 hours more per year than the Washington state-required accrual.
  • In addition, PEMCO provides paid time off for bereavement, jury duty, and employee volunteering in the community.

Other compensation depending on role, contributions, and performance may include:
  • Discretionary bonuses.
  • Tiered sales commissions and/or incentives (from 5-25% of employee's monthly sales).

  • Shift differential pay.
