Can I be an insurance adjuster without a degree?

Insurance adjusters typically do not need a college degree to start working, but they often require relevant training, licensing, and sometimes certification. Licensing requirements vary by state and usually involve passing an exam and background checks.

How does an insurance adjuster typically collaborate with policyholders and third parties during a claim investigation?

Insurance adjusters regularly interact with policyholders, witnesses, contractors, and sometimes legal professionals to gather information and assess the validity of a claim. They conduct interviews, inspect damaged property, and review documentation such as police reports or medical records. What is an insurance adjuster?

An Insurance Adjuster, also known as a Claims Adjuster is a professional who assesses insurance claims of all kinds. They help decide if there should be a payout for each claim and, according to the policy and the circumstances, how much should be paid. Insurance Adjusters make this determination by speaking with the one who filed the claim, assessing any damages, speaking with witnesses, and reading reports filed by officials. The Adjuster will typically come in-person to speak with you and take pictures of the damage before writing the report.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an insurance adjuster?

To thrive as an Insurance Adjuster, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of insurance policies, typically supported by a relevant degree or claims certification. Familiarity with claims management software, estimating tools like Xactimate, and industry regulations is essential. Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills help you manage stressful situations and resolve claims efficiently. These abilities ensure accurate claim assessments, fair resolutions, and strong client relationships in a complex and time-sensitive environment.

Job description

Description:

Experienced Personal Injury Associate Attorney

$150,000–$175,000 First-Year Guaranteed Compensation + Commission Upside

The Lovely Law Firm is hiring an experienced Personal Injury Attorney to join our growing plaintiff’s practice.

This is not an entry-level training position. We are looking for an attorney with real personal injury experience who can step in, manage cases, evaluate liability and damages, negotiate with insurance companies, work with clients, and help move files toward successful resolution.

If you are a personal injury attorney who wants better support, better systems, better case opportunities, and a clear path to higher earnings, this may be the right fit.

Compensation

We are offering $150,000–$175,000 in first-year guaranteed compensation, depending on experience.

After the first year, the attorney will have the opportunity to transition into our attorney production/commission compensation plan, which is designed to reward performance and create significant upside.

For the right candidate, we may also consider a signing bonus.

What We Are Looking For

The ideal candidate has:

  • 5+ years of personal injury experience
  • Experience handling auto wreck, motorcycle, premises liability, dog bite, trucking, or serious injury cases
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to evaluate liability, causation, damages, and case value
  • Experience dealing with insurance adjusters and defense counsel
  • Strong client communication skills
  • The ability to manage a caseload without needing basic training
  • Litigation experience
  • Smart Advocate Experience is a plus
  • South Carolina Bar admission required

What You Will Do

You will be responsible for:

  • Managing a personal injury caseload
  • Reviewing liability, damages, medical treatment, coverage, and case strategy
  • Communicating with clients and guiding them through the case process
  • Negotiating settlements with insurance carriers
  • Preparing cases for litigation when needed
  • Working with paralegals, case managers, and leadership to move cases efficiently
  • Helping maximize case value while delivering excellent client service

Why Join The Lovely Law Firm?

At The Lovely Law Firm, we are building a modern, aggressive, systems-driven personal injury practice. We invest in marketing, technology, case support, expert development, and trial preparation.

We are not looking for someone who wants to coast. We are looking for someone who wants to win, grow, and be rewarded for performance.

You will have:

  • Strong case support
  • Established marketing and case flow
  • A team-oriented environment
  • Systems and technology designed to help attorneys work efficiently
  • Opportunity for serious long-term income growth
  • A clear transition from guaranteed compensation to performance-based upside

This Role Is a Fit If You Are:

  • Already handling personal injury cases and want a better opportunity
  • Frustrated by limited upside at your current firm
  • Tired of doing everything yourself without enough support
  • Looking for a firm that understands plaintiff personal injury
  • Motivated by performance-based compensation
  • Ready to join a growing team with high standards

This Role Is Not a Fit If You:

  • Are looking for your first attorney job
  • Need basic training on how personal injury cases work
  • Do not enjoy client communication
  • Avoid negotiation or litigation pressure
  • Want a low-accountability position
