Position Overview


We're seeking a Staff Accountant with a blend of bookkeeping and tax preparation experience to support our client engagements year-round. This role will manage monthly and quarterly bookkeeping cycles, handle payroll and sales tax filings, and assist with individual and business tax return preparation — especially during tax season. The ideal candidate has 2–4 years of experience in public accounting and is comfortable managing multiple client accounts simultaneously.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform monthly and quarterly bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, including account reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation
  • Process and file payroll on behalf of clients, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state requirements
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns across applicable jurisdictions
  • Assist with preparation of individual and business tax returns, particularly during tax season (January–April)
  • Maintain organized, accurate client records and respond to client questions on bookkeeping and compliance matters
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in client financial records
  • Collaborate with senior accountants and partners on client engagements and special projects
  • Stay current on relevant tax law changes and bookkeeping best practices


Qualifications


Required:


  • 2–4 years of experience in a public accounting firm
  • Solid understanding of bookkeeping principles, payroll processing, and sales tax compliance
  • Experience assisting with tax return preparation
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple client deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills


Preferred:


  • Experience with QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop)
  • Experience with UltraTax CS
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
