Location: Carson City, NV (On-site)

Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Position Overview

A premier, fast-growing emergency response and environmental remediation provider in Carson City, Nevada, is seeking a hands-on, operationally focused Controller. Serving public and private sector clients across Northern Nevada, our organization provides rapid-response spill containment, erosion control, and hazardous material management services 24/7.

The Controller will direct all financial operations, including month-end close, job cost accounting, working capital management, and risk compliance. This role reports directly to executive leadership and serves as a critical strategic partner in managing project margins, equipment allocations, and field operations finance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Leadership & Reporting: Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes; produce accurate GAAP-compliant financial statements and executive dashboards.
  • Job Costing & Emergency Billing: Oversee project-level accounting, labor/equipment tracking, and rapid-billing cycles suited for high-urgency, short-turnaround field deployments.
  • Cash Flow & Working Capital: Lead daily cash management, receivables, vendor payments, and capital expenditure planning.
  • Budgeting & Analysis: Build annual operational budgets, project margin analyses, and rolling cash flow forecasts to support strategic growth.
  • Tax & Regulatory Compliance: Ensure strict adherence to Nevada state and local tax requirements, commercial insurance reporting, and internal controls.
  • Payroll & Fleet Operations: Oversee specialized payroll operations (including prevailing wage/certified payroll), workers' compensation reporting, and asset depreciation tracking for equipment fleets.
  • System Optimization: Refine field-to-office financial workflows, inventory tracking for emergency supplies, and accounting software tools.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of senior financial management experience (Controller or Accounting Manager) within specialty contracting, environmental services, construction, or 24/7 logistics.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or CMA preferred).
  • Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in industrial accounting software (Sage, Deltek, QuickBooks Enterprise, or similar ERPs) and advanced Microsoft Excel.
  • Core Competencies: Expert-level knowledge of job cost accounting, equipment allocation, and multi-entity or project-based financial structures.
  • Attributes: Adaptable, sharp analytical mindset, capable of thriving in a fast-paced environment supporting round-the-clock emergency deployments.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Salary: $100,000 – $110,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
  • Benefits: Full health, dental, and vision insurance coverage options.
  • Retirement: 401(k) plan with company matching.
  • Time Off: Paid time off (PTO) and paid holidays.

Note: Company identity and specific client operational details will be disclosed during the preliminary interview stage.
