Job description

Responsibilities

The Quality Control Field Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring construction work is executed in accordance with contract documents, approved submittals, and applicable codes and standards. This position is responsible for performing field inspections, testing, documenting quality activities, and supporting the successful implementation of the project quality program.

Working closely with the Quality Control Manager, project team, and trade partners, the Quality Control Field Inspector helps identify and resolve quality issues, supports corrective actions, and promotes a culture of quality across all phases of construction. This is a field-focused role that requires strong attention to detail, effective communication, and a proactive approach to ensuring work is completed right the first time.

  • Inspect work in place for compliance with contract documents, approved submittals, manufacturer requirements, codes, and standards.
  • Review and understand geotechnical requirements and procedures.
  • Perform and document preparatory, initial installation, follow-up, and pre-cover inspections.
  • Coordinate and observe required testing and inspections to verify specification compliance.
  • Verify materials, equipment, mock-ups, and sample installations are approved prior to installation.
  • Review test reports, inspection reports, and laboratory results for compliance.
  • Identify, document, and track deficiencies, nonconforming work, punch list items, and rework through final resolution.
  • Maintain accurate quality records, including inspection reports, test logs, photographs, certifications, and closeout documentation.
  • Coordinate with subcontractors, testing agencies, consultants, and project team members on quality-related inspections, testing, and corrective actions.
  • Follow up to ensure corrective actions are completed and quality issues are fully resolved.
  • Support project closeout, turnover, and commissioning by verifying completion of required inspections, testing, and quality documentation.
  • Water testing of exterior building components, including roofing systems.

Education - Skills - Knowledge - Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, or construction management and three (3) years of related experience in the type of work being performed on the project (strongly preferred)
  • OR at least five (5) years of related experience
  • Technical knowledge of quality control processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, and QC Inspection Software
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specifications
  • Willing to travel and relocate, as both may be required
