Job description

Instrumentation, Manufacturing & Automation Intern

Interstates is seeking an Instrumentation, Manufacturing & Automation Intern to join our team in Sioux Center, IA. This internship offers Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) currently enrolled students a hands-on experience across three areas of our business: Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E), Manufacturing, and Plant Floor Automation.

The intern will work alongside experienced team members from each area, gaining exposure to instrumentation, electrical systems, panel fabrication, and industrial automation while supporting team projects and daily activities.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in electrical panel fabrication and assembly.
  • Read and learn to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Gain exposure to instrumentation, electrical systems, and troubleshooting.
  • Contribute to PLC and HMI programming and automation projects.
  • Support testing, documentation, and other project activities.
  • Work along with experienced team members and learn about industrial applications.
  • Follow all safety procedures and practices.

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a degree or technical education in Instrumentation, Electrical, Automation, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Interest in instrumentation, industrial automation, manufacturing, or electrical systems.
  • Strong communication skills and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to working safely in an industrial environment.

Sioux Center, IA

This role is for Northwest Iowa Community College (NCC) currently enrolled students. It is in-person internship located in Sioux Center, IA will offer hands-on experience across Instrumentation & Electrical, Manufacturing, and Plant Floor Automation.

Travel

Travel of up to one month may be required as part of the internship.
