Reports To: Production Manager
Amount of Travel Required: 0-10%
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7 am - 4 pm, overtime as necessary.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Primarily works to ensure Gas Turbine Generator Package is ready to operate and conduct live run test. Preliminary checks include testing of instrument control systems for newly built and refurbished units. Assure units are fully calibrated and commissioned before being deployed for field operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except for those that begin with the word "May.")
  • Perform turbine generator package commissioning to include the following:
  • Lubrication oil system commissioning to confirm flow, pressure, temperature of the system per the suppled drawings.
  • Gas system commissioning includes valve operation, venting operations, leak checks.
  • Commissioning of gas turbine start systems, hydraulic actuation systems for variable geometry in preparation for startup.
  • Startup / commissioning of gas turbine engine and generator.
  • Perform Point-to-Point panel checkouts during pre-commissioning and log results.
  • Issue Non-Conformance Reports when appropriate for corrective actions
  • Perform DC system inspection during pre-commissioning and log results. Troubleshoot DC systems.
  • Perform AC system inspection including insulation testing, phase-to-phase checks and phase rotation checks during pre-commissioning and log results. Troubleshoot 480V and 600V Ac Systems
  • Perform control system software loading including but not limited to main controller and auxiliary controllers including VFD drives.
  • Perform instrument calibrations for pressure transmitters, pressure differential transmitters, level transmitters, etc. during pre-commissioning and log results.
  • Perform instrument loop checks during pre-commissioning and log results.
  • Perform any other instrumentation/electrical maintenance as required on equipment.
  • Be aware of quality control issues with the different vendors and generate Non-Conformance Reports as needed. Help drive any issues found to conclusion.
  • Commission complete package to include starting, stopping, load testing and Factory Acceptance Test.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to assist with successful operations and business continuity.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • Successfully passes background check and pre-employment drug screening.
  • Possesses a valid U.S. Driver's License.
  • Daily predictable attendance.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE LEVEL
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of instrumentation/electrical experience required.
  • 5-7 years of gas turbine operations, power plant operations and/or field service experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Ability to understand electrical/controls/instrumentation wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to understand Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of RTDS, Thermocouples, Pressure Transmitters (Gauge, Absolute & Differential)
  • Basic computer skills. (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook). Send and receive email, perform inventory accounting, and enter repair work orders, etc.
  • Preferred knowledge of PLC programming environments such as GE Proficy Machine Edition, Siemens S7 and Woodward GAP.
  • Knowledge in the usage of the following test equipment:
  • Digital Multi-meter including voltage, current and resistance measurements.
  • Loop Calibrator
  • Pressure pump calibration
  • Insulation Meter (Megger)
  • Hand tools
  • Forklift competency preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT

Frequently required to walk, sit, climb, bend, reach and squat/kneel. Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians work primarily in a shop/outdoor environment. When required to go to a wellsite, the employee will rideshare with other employees. The work environment includes exposure to hazardous materials, operating conditions, and inclement weather. Given these conditions employees are required to wear company mandated personal protective equipment (coveralls, safety boots, safety gloves, hard hats, safety glasses, and ear protection) and must strictly adhere to safety policy. Instrumentation and Electrical Technicians must be able to lift 49 lbs. independently and be able to lift 50-100 lbs. with a team lift.
Work hours may include early morning, late evenings, and weekends, depending on job demands.
