As an instrument repair technician, your primary responsibilities include the restoration of older instruments and the repair instruments for customers. Your duties involve answering client questions, assessing the damage, ordering parts, and completing repairs. You work with specialized tools and hardware and often spend time alone while working on a project. Because there are so many types of musical instruments, you must meet the necessary qualifications and obtain the proper skills before working on a new category of instruments, such as string, brass, woodwind, or electric instruments. You may also educate customers on proper maintenance and care of equipment.
