Part time, Hourly | $13.00-$15.00

What is needed for this job:

  • 18+ years of age; Some college or equivalent

  • 2-3 years Specialized Dance experience

  • Ability to work with and be sensitive to others while always portraying a positive style of instruction

  • Desire to mentor program participants of a variety of ages

  • Ability to perform activities which require sustained concentration and attention

  • Ability to physically assist (spot) the program participant through skills with a clear understanding of developing the athlete

The responsibilities we will trust you with:

  • Encourage program participants providing excellent service to participants and members

  • Reinforce the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through example and recognition of participant displays of character

  • Follow approved positive support techniques to develop and refine dancer’s skills

  • Follow detailed schedule provided by the leader/supervisor and have the knowledge and understanding of the Dance skills required to implement the lesson plan

  • Manage participant behavior using collaborative approach with supervision and parents

  • Conduct YMCA Dance Program instruction in accordance with YMCA program standards ensuring adherence to YMCA progressive or competitive standards and quality

  • Provide a safe environment that allows members and participants to learn the YMCA sports curriculum

  • Arrive at least 15 minutes before scheduled class session to be prepared with the equipment set up and ready to begin at the scheduled start time

  • Be reliable and inform the supervisor of any conflicts at least 24 hours before the work day of any issues or items required

  • Ensure that all participants have exited the facility and that the facility is left clean and orderly

  • Communicate all YMCA rules and ensure that you are accessible and identifiable

  • Complete timely reports of incidents to the director/supervisor, complaints or compliments of the program

  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required
