Position Summary

Livingstone College's Division of Mathematics & Science is accepting applications for a full-time Instructor/Assistant Professor of Chemistry in the Biology Department for a start in Fall 2026. The department seeks candidates with interest and expertise in teaching General Chemistry and upper-level Chemistry courses, as well as courses in related fields.

  • The successful candidate must demonstrate excellence in research and teaching at the undergraduate level is expected.
  • The ideal candidate will be able to teach courses in chemistry as well as selected courses in other complementary disciplines such Biochemistry & Physical Science.
  • Teaching and research expertise in any of General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry and or Environmental Chemistry/Physical Science is preferred.
  • Teaching duties may include upper division undergraduate lectures and laboratory courses.
  • Participation in service to the department, college and community is also expected.
  • The successful candidate will be expected to write grants to develop active research programs in the department.
  • The candidate must demonstrate the ability to communicate with different age groups along with students of various cultural and ethnic backgrounds. In addition, communication should be central to teaching strategies, advisement, mentoring and academic preparation.
  • Advise and mentor students, with a focus on academic preparation, research engagement, and career readiness .
  • Support interdisciplinary collaboration and contribute to the success of Livingstone College's STEM initiatives .
  • Other duties as assigned .

Education/ Experience

  • MS in Chemistry (Instructor)
  • Prior college teaching experience, preferred
  • Experience with Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) and analytical chemistry techniques is a plus.
