The Position: The role of the Instructional Assistant is to support the classroom teacher in addressing the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of all students. Responsibilities include direct instructional support, behavior intervention implementation, data collection, student supervision, and follow-through on intervention plans with consistency and care. Instructional Assistants are also responsible for curb-to-curb student transportation support.

Compensation and Benefits:

The pay range we’re offering is $18.00- $22.00 hourly depending (Based) on experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with students with learning, emotional, and behavioral disabilities, autism spectrum, speech and communication disorders preferred
  • Proficient in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite, and other office-related software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to work independently and as a self-starter with minimal supervision
  • General administrative and clerical abilities
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to demonstrate professionalism, patience, empathy, and courtesy
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical examination, tuberculosis (TB) test, and drug screening
  • Ability to commute to various school sites based on program needs
  • Must successfully complete and maintain certification in Pro-ACT
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and physically assist, move, or restrain students as necessary to ensure safety and support
  • Ability to perform physical duties including standing, sitting, lifting, carrying, and providing mobility or personal care to students (dressing, hygiene, toileting, etc.)
  • Visual and auditory acuity to perform instructional duties and monitor student safety
  • Manual dexterity is required for using instructional tools, technology, and supporting students with assistive devices
  • May be required to perform prolonged work at a computer for documentation, planning, and communication purposes
  • Ability to work extended hours as needed
  • Department of Justice (DOJ), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Child Abuse Index (CACI)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide instructional support in a variety of academic areas
  • Follow through on intervention plans with children with consistency and professionalism
  • Fill in as a substitute teacher (if qualified)
  • Ability to work in several different classrooms and with varying ages and grade levels
  • Assist in classroom management, crisis response, and physical restraint as trained
  • Provide tutoring to students in small groups or one-on-one
  • Follow through on behavior and academic intervention plans
  • Work as part of a team with the classroom teacher and other staff members
  • Set limits and intervene appropriately to meet the needs of the children and families served
  • Provide transportation for community-based students to and from school
  • Ability to perform transportation duties as a driver and or a rider on a van route
  • Collaborate with counseling or behavioral staff and implement feedback
  • Collect and document behavioral and academic data as directed
  • Providing toileting assistance to students as needed
  • Maintain confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries at all times
  • Represent the agency in a professional, respectful manner when interacting with internal and external stakeholders
  • Complete all onboarding requirements within the designated time frame and remain in compliance with agency expectations for timely review and acknowledgment of policies, procedures, and trainings
  • Perform all other related duties and responsibilities as assigned
