Position Description
The Corporate Instructional Designer at Applied Medical will work on-site in our Rancho Santa Margarita headquarters and play a key role in creating innovative, performance-driven learning experiences that empower team members and support organizational goals. This role brings deep expertise in learning & development, with a strong ability to accurately define business needs, design targeted training plans, and develop effective learning solutions across multiple modalities.
As part of the Applied Learning team, the Corporate Instructional Designer investigates, designs, and delivers impactful training programs that drive professional growth and business success. Leveraging expertise in instructional design, adult learning theory, and modern training technologies, the Corporate Instructional Designer partners with subject matter experts (SMEs) and cross-functional stakeholders to achieve data-driven results, scalable curriculum design, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analyze business needs, identify performance gaps, and apply instructional design frameworks (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) to develop clear learning objectives and project plans aligned with organizational goals.
  • Design and develop high-impact learning solutions, including eLearning modules, videos, assessments, instructor-led training, and blended curricula that drive measurable business outcomes.
  • Collaborate closely with SMEs and cross-functional teams to gather content, validate accuracy, ensure alignment, and successfully implement learning programs.
  • Transform complex topics into engaging, user-friendly learning experiences tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Develop and implement enterprise-level training programs that support large globally distributed teams and align with business priorities.
  • Leverage multimedia tools, LMS platform, and AI-assisted technologies to streamline content development and improve scalability and efficiency.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, high quality, and alignment with stakeholder expectations.
  • Utilize learning analytics, performance data, and business metrics to evaluate program effectiveness and continuously optimize training solutions.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives that enhance training design, development, delivery, and organizational impact.

  • Expertise in instructional design methodologies (ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles.
  • Experience developing a variety of training deliverables (eLearning, video, assessments, instructor-led materials, job aids).
  • Experience collaborating with SMEs and stakeholders of cross-functional areas.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills, with the ability to simplify complex processes and information.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, and the aptitude to tailor messages clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment with exceptional organization and meticulous attention to detail.
