Job description


I. Job Summary
The Learning Consultant is a trusted learning partner who helps drive employee performance and business results through thoughtful learning design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Supporting multiple SBS business functions and learning programs, this role requires a collaborative, adaptable professional who is eager to learn the business, build meaningful relationships, and contribute wherever support is needed most.
This individual brings a strong foundation in instructional design and learning technology, combined with a passion for continuous improvement and delivering exceptional learner experiences. They are resourceful, accountable, and comfortable working independently while actively collaborating with team members and stakeholders. Success in this role requires intellectual curiosity, strong project management skills, attention to detail, and the confidence to share ideas that elevate learning solutions and strengthen team performance.
The Learning Consultant will have the opportunity to work across a diverse portfolio of learning initiatives, expanding their business knowledge and professional capabilities while contributing to the growth and success of the SBS organization.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develops a deep understanding of the WM's National Account business, its customers, and strategic priorities to align learning solutions with business outcomes.
  • Partners with business leaders and subject matter experts to identify performance needs and design effective learning and organizational effectiveness solutions.
  • Participates in strategic planning discussions and determines appropriate modality for organizational effectiveness and training and development programs for current state and future state.
  • Leads the analysis, design, development, implementation, and maintenance of learning programs using a variety of modalities, including instructor-led, virtual, self-paced, and performance support solutions.
  • Creates high-quality learning assets, including curricula, eLearning, videos, facilitator and participant guides, job aids, assessments, presentations, and videos.
  • Apply instructional design best practices, adult learning principles, and learning technologies to create engaging, effective learner experiences.
  • Evaluates learning effectiveness using learner and business data, continuously improving solutions to maximize impact and performance
  • Demonstrates business curiosity, ownership, and a growth mindset while contributing to a collaborative, high-performing team culture and advocating for solutions that improve the learner experience

III. Qualifications
A. Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Industrial / Organizational Psychology or similar area of study, or in lieu of degree,
  • High School Diploma or GED (accredited)
  • 4 years of relevant work experience and
  • 7 years previous experience including experience managing a high performance work team (in addition to education requirement)

B. Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading and managing large-scale organizational change initiatives and enterprise-wide transformation programs.
  • Advanced proficiency in learning design and development technologies, including Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, Canva, Camtasia, and Microsoft Office Suite, to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
  • Proven ability to design, implement, and optimize programs that enhance organizational productivity, performance, quality, and employee effectiveness.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated understanding of adult learning styles and instructional design.
  • Apply innovative learning design approaches, leveraging AI driven tools and emerging technologies to streamline content development, improve efficiency, and enhance learner engagement.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with business leaders and stakeholders to identify performance gaps and translate strategic objectives into innovative learning and development solutions.
  • Strong consultant approach to client relationships.
  • Demonstrated ability to measure, analyze, and communicate the return on investment (ROI), effectiveness, and business impact of learning and development initiatives.

Pay: The expected base pay range for this position across the U.S. is $90,000.00 - $110,00.00 annually. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific salary offered to a successful candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
