Job description

The Accountant is a critical contributor to the Finance Department not just for accurate records, but for credible financial insight. This role owns the integrity of financial data from transaction through reporting and ensures the leadership teams clearly understand what is happening in the business and how it shows up in the financials. This position requires a highly skilled, detail-oriented accounting professional who is proactive, forward-thinking, and comfortable operating in autonomy. The Accountant anticipates issues, identifies risks and opportunities early, continuously improves processes to strengthen financial clarity, controls, and decision-making.

Responsibilities:

    • Own the accuracy and integrity of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.
    • Prepare and review complex balance sheets, income statements, cash flow statements, and supporting schedules.
    • Ensure financial statements are accurate, complete, timely, and defensible.
    • Analyze costs, revenues, margins, commitments, and obligations to support forecasting, planning and strategic decisions.
    • Proactively identify trends, anomalies, and risks and clearly communicate findings to Leadership.
    • Translate operational activity into financial outcomes and explain variances in plain language.
    • Lead or review accounts payable and accounts receivable processes to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and cash discipline.
    • Execute monthly, quarterly, and annual close with discipline and accountability.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal controls and company accounting policies.
    • Prepare and support tax filings and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local requirements.
    • Serve as a key point of contact for internal and external audits, providing clear documentation and explanations.

To be considered you’ll need:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • A Minimum of 4 years of progressively responsible accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing or regulated environments.
  • Strong working knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks & Sage.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel with the ability to analyze and interpret data
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Strong judgement, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • To be a clear confident communicator who can explain financial matters to non-finance leaders.
  • An ability to manage multiple priorities without sacrificing quality.
