Lead HVAC Installer

My Plumber Plus | Manassas, VA

A great Lead HVAC Installer takes ownership from the moment the truck arrives until the new system is operating exactly as it should. They solve problems in the field, develop the people working beside them, and leave homeowners confident that their investment was installed correctly.

As a Lead HVAC Installer, you'll manage residential replacement projects from start to finish, direct apprentices and helpers, and work closely with our sales, service, warehouse, and office teams. What You'll Do
  • Lead residential HVAC replacement and installation projects from start to finish.

  • Install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-split systems, thermostats, and indoor air quality equipment.

  • Complete ductwork modifications, refrigerant piping, condensate drainage, venting, gas piping, electrical connections, and related installation work.

  • Review job details, equipment specifications, and required materials before beginning each project.

  • Direct, train, and support apprentices and installation helpers.

  • Perform equipment startups, refrigerant charging, airflow verification, system testing, and commissioning.

  • Troubleshoot installation-related issues and make necessary adjustments.

  • Ensure all work meets manufacturer requirements, applicable codes, permit requirements, and company standards.

  • Protect customers' homes and maintain clean, organized, and professional jobsites.

  • Explain system operation, maintenance expectations, and warranty information to homeowners.

  • Complete accurate job notes, equipment records, photos, and required documentation.

  • Communicate material, equipment, scheduling, or scope concerns promptly.

  • Coordinate with sales, service, warehouse, dispatch, and leadership teams.

  • Maintain assigned vehicles, tools, equipment, materials, and inventory.

What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience leading residential HVAC replacement and installation projects.

  • Ability to independently complete residential HVAC installations from start to finish.

  • Strong knowledge of furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, mini-splits, ductwork, refrigeration, airflow, venting, and system commissioning.

  • Strong troubleshooting, leadership, and jobsite problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to train, coach, and direct apprentices or installation helpers.

  • Commitment to safe, code-compliant, and high-quality workmanship.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Professional appearance and respect for customers and their homes.

  • EPA Universal Certification required.

  • Applicable Virginia HVAC license or trade credentials preferred.

  • Comfortable using tablets, mobile applications, and field service software.

  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.

  • Ability to lift equipment and work in attics, basements, crawl spaces, mechanical rooms, and outdoor conditions.
