Job Summary

The Foreman/Crew Leader is a working leader responsible for supervising a 2–4 person crew on commercial fence installation projects. This role combines hands on installation work with daily leadership, planning, and oversight responsibilities. The Foreman ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards while maintaining strong communication with management and developing the skills of crew members.


Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Superintendent, Production Manager, and/or Project Manager to understand project scope, timelines, and potential issues
  • Demonstrate expert knowledge of materials, tools, and installation methods for all common fence types
  • Lead, supervise, and direct crew members, assigning tasks and sequencing work to maximize efficiency
  • Plan daily tasks and workflow to align with overall project schedules
  • Inspect work performed by the crew and provide constructive feedback
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe job site at all times
  • Ensure adherence to company policies, including safety rules, drug free workplace standards, cell phone usage, and accurate timekeeping
  • Oversee proper operation, inspection, and maintenance of tools, equipment, and vehicles
  • Maintain a clean, well organized work truck and ensure crew members respect company equipment
  • Manage safe and efficient storage of materials on the truck or at the job site
  • Communicate regularly with the Superintendent and/or Production Manager regarding progress and unexpected issues
  • Track inventory of supplies and expendable materials; request additional materials as needed
  • Provide input during project planning when requested
  • Ensure efficient loading, travel, and arrival to and from job sites
  • Complete projects within allotted timeframes and without callbacks
  • Organize and lead job layout, material staging, and unloading
  • Demonstrate pride in workmanship and openness to guidance and feedback
  • Promote teamwork, cooperation, and respect among crew members
  • Train, mentor, and motivate crew members to build a productive and skilled team
  • Model reliability, professionalism, and consistent effort, representing the company positively with or without supervision


Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of fence installation experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Physical strength, coordination, and endurance to perform daily installation tasks
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs. consistently
  • Professional demeanor, integrity, and reliability
  • Valid driver’s license required (CDL preferred)


Physical Demands

  • Employees must be able to talk and hear regularly, use hands and fingers to operate tools, and stand, walk, kneel, squat, and reach for extended periods.
  • Occasional lifting or moving of 50+ pounds is required.
