Solar Pathways Energy & Electrical

Solar Pathways Energy & Electrical has an immediate opening for a full-time PV Installer / Electrical Apprentice to join our team of commercial electrical tenant improvement & finish, residential remodel and service, and solar & energy storage installation specialists. We pride ourselves on delivering the highest quality commercial finish, remodel, service, and solar installation work available, and we're looking for a self-motivated individual who can think outside the box to overcome the challenges that high-end commercial and residential electrical and solar work demand.

This is an hourly position with benefits, and we're open to applicants new to the industry.

Job Description

You will work beside a Journeyman Electrician, Residential Wireman, or experienced Solar Installer, helping complete residential and commercial electrical work as well as solar and energy storage installations. You'll be responsible for executing tasks to a high standard, following the lead of the head electrician or installer on the jobsite, and securing customer satisfaction through quality service and professional behavior.

We take training seriously and are committed to growing the next generation of highly skilled electricians and solar technicians — giving apprentices exposure to many different parts of the trade. A positive attitude and strong work ethic from both apprentice and lead are critical to that growth.

Position Responsibilities (Include, But Are Not Limited To)

  • Integrity, resourcefulness, work ethic, and a continued focus on safety and quality of work
  • Installing and repairing electrical equipment and fixtures
  • Assisting with installation of residential and commercial PV solar systems
  • Ongoing maintenance on electrical, solar, and energy storage installations
  • Learning, working with, and following the lead of the Residential Wireman, Journeyman Electrician, or Installation Lead
  • Completing assigned tasks safely, correctly, and in a timely manner
  • Ensuring all PPE, tools, and equipment assigned to you are accounted for, maintained in good condition, and repaired or replaced as required
  • Interfacing with data acquisition/SCADA systems to help understand, diagnose, and troubleshoot on-site problems
  • Interacting positively with customers and maintaining a high level of service
  • Maintaining a clean, put-together image that presents well to customers, including wearing a company polo and clothing free of damage, rips, or stains
  • Providing technical support for customers as needed
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Lead

Safety is a core value at Solar Pathways. PV Installers/Electrical Apprentices must:

  • Read, understand, and sign all safety procedures
  • Attend weekly safety meetings
  • Receive, inspect, and maintain all required PPE
  • Complete all required safety training
  • Report any safety incident timely and accurately
  • Ensure any safety incident involving you is fully investigated, documented, and corrective actions are implemented

Required Skills & Experience

  • Positive attitude and the ability to work hard, follow instructions, and take initiative
  • Willingness to learn and grow, and to provide feedback to leads
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to communicate in English, both oral and written
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Basic computer operation skills and familiarity with internet-based program navigation
  • Ability to work within a residential environment while maintaining a high level of customer service and consideration
  • No prior industry experience required — training provided

Working Conditions

  • Required to work more than 90% of the time in the field performing installations, as well as preventive and corrective maintenance
  • Work in a fast-changing environment that may require quick decisions with limited processes and procedures
  • Travel may be required

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to drive a vehicle
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Ability to walk distances up to 5 miles in a day
  • Ability to ascend or descend ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and similar structures while maintaining 3 points of contact
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and distinguish sounds
  • Ability to maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling while walking, standing, or crouching on narrow or slippery surfaces
  • Visual acuity including depth perception, field of vision, and the ability to distinguish between colors
  • Ability to work in outdoor environments, including extreme heat (above 100°F) or extreme cold (below 32°F) for periods of more than one hour
  • Ability to lift up to 70 pounds
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 30 pounds frequently, and up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects
