Job description

Position Purpose
The Journeyman Craftsman is responsible for installing, and repairing wall vinyl, carpet tile, sheet vinyl, VCT, repairing walls, painting of walls, doors, and door frames, Carpentry, as well as many other repairs and installations throughout the hospital. This position also requires the successful completion of training in and/or demonstrated competence in Building Technician duties.
Nature and Scope
The major challenges to this position are completing all work with established guidelines and building codes in an efficient and productive manner. This position may be required to draw up work plans, material lists and order materials. This position may be required to work at any of the Renown locations on short notice. Other related duties and overtime may be required. This position has the authority to determine what is in need of repair or replacement, and recommend to the supervisor.
It is common to encounter potential hazards in the healthcare environment. Some of these hazards could include, but are not limited to: Radiation, Toxic Chemicals, Biological Hazards, Heat, Noise, Dust and Stress. Renown Health has a Safety Management Program in place addressing these issues
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
1. Can actively support Renown Health's Standards of Conduct
2. Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
3. Ability to apply ADA standards as directed by supervisor.
4. Knowledge of OSHA Safety Standards.
5. Knowledge of applicable Reno/National Building Codes.
6. Skill to perform jobs in workable manner.
7. Installation and repair of interior finishes at a journeyman level such that repairs match the existing substrate perfectly.
8. Competence at the Building Technician level of Plant Operations.
This position doesn't provide direct patient care.

Experience:
Five (5) years experience as decorator or painter preferred.
License(s):
Valid State of Nevada or California Driver's license and ability to pass Renown Health's Department of Motor Vehicle Report criteria.
Certification(s):
None.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
