Project Overview:
The Infrastructure GBU's Renewables & Clean Power business line is executing the Maple Creek Combined Cycle Power Project, a new natural gas-fired generation facility designed to provide reliable, efficient, and flexible power to support growing energy demand. The project will be executed utilizing Bechtel's Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) methodology to drive safe, predictable, and efficient field execution through integrated Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Startup planning.
The Advance Work Package Coordinator will initially be based in Reston, Virginia, supporting project planning, setup, and early execution activities. During this phase, travel to the Maple Creek project site and other Bechtel offices may be required. Upon completion of project setup activities, the successful candidate will mobilize to the project site to support field execution, Advanced Work Packaging implementation, workface planning, and Installation Work Package (IWP) development and management.
Working closely with Construction, Field Engineering, Project Controls, Supply Chain, and CSU teams, the Advance Work Package Coordinator will help ensure the timely development, release, and execution of work packages that support safe, efficient, and predictable project delivery.
Job Summary:
The Advance Work Package Coordinator is responsible for coordination and management of work package planning and creation. Duties include working with CSU, Construction, Project Controls, Engineering and Supply Chain management to help sequence project deliverables. Monitors data quality across all project platforms to ensure accuracy in work packages. #LI-RM1
Major Responsibilities:
  • Prepares discipline specific Installation Work Packages (IWPs) - Scoping and Sequencing IWPs
  • Coordinates the removal of Engineering and Procurement constraints impacting the execution of Installation Work Packages
  • Creates EPC process maps and workflows to show information (data, documents, 3D model) streams for respective discipline in support of IWP management
  • Coordinates with EPC automation personnel to configure BSAPs to support the execution of IWPs
  • Supports assembly of Installation Work Packages via Book Builder, Teamworks, Setroute, Smart Completions etc. with minimal oversight.
  • Coordinates Installation Work Package review, execution, and closeout
  • Coordinates Constraint Analysis of Installation Work Packages
  • Manages changes to content of Installation Work Packages (addition, removal, revisions)

Planning:
  • Works in collaboration with field supervision and field engineering to manage the IWPs, focusing on the detailed planning aspect, which allows supervision to focus on managing the field work.
  • Identifies gaps in IWP planning, and proactively seeks collaboration across project EPC organizations
  • Assists with project process implementation and updates

  • Monitors project schedule and ensures performance and timely delivery of IWPs; coordinate with Project Controls team, planners, other stakeholder of the project and ensure IWPs are issued as per the project priorities.

Safety/Quality:
  • Monitors installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance with drawings, specifications, vendor, and other requirements.
  • Enforces policies, procedures and related work rules as established by field construction management.
  • Ensures Zero Accident Philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to by craft and others when in the operational area, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.

Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 8-10 years of relevant experience or 12-14 years of relevant work experience
  • Specialist in Advanced Work Packaging concepts and terminology

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Possesses knowledge of and prior experience working with a variety of software tools and database applications including Primavera, Synchro 4D, Navisworks, ModelBuilder, Book Builder, TEAMWorks, Setroute, and Xfighter.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Advanced Work Packaging (AWP) planning, work package development, constraint management, and construction workface planning processes.
  • Experience on Combined Cycle Power Generation projects is required.
  • Candidates must possess a strong understanding of EPC execution, construction sequencing, systems turnover, and startup planning associated with large-scale combined cycle facilities.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
  • Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across Engineering, Procurement, Construction, CSU, and Project Controls organizations.
  • Able to work extended work schedules and night shift as required to support project execution plans and schedules.
  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H) and a Zero Accident safety culture.
  • Must have work authorization within the United States of America.
