Job description

Job Summary:

The installation technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of installation duties onย 
technology projects for our clients. This position is the key field position for the bulk of theย 
actual work that gets done in our clients buildings. The install tech needs to coordinate withย 
project management, field superintendents and others to fully understand their role onย 
specific projects. They interpret our drawing packages to create the basis of the finishedย 
systems. This installation can include displays, projectors, loudspeakers, microphones,ย 
equipment racks, etc. Will also provide advice and guidance to Associate Installationย 
Technicians as necessary.ย 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:ย 
โ€ข Possess all skills from Associate Install Technician and most skills from theย 
Associate Fabrication Technician job descriptions to install components and makeย 
modifications on site as necessary to complete the projectย 
โ€ข Physical installation of a wide variety of technology into a wide variety of locations.ย 
โ€ข Execute a wide variety of cabling terminations for all wire and connector types andย 
ability to test completed terminations.ย 
โ€ข Support the preparation of equipment racks for staging of equipment wire lacingย 
including installation of power strips, grounding bars, jack-fields, etc.ย 
โ€ข Able to read and understand functional design drawings as well as cable riserย 
diagrams and all architectural drawings.ย 
โ€ข Able to assist in the mounting of base build equipment such as monitor mounts,ย 
ceiling speakersโ€™ microphones and projectors.ย 
โ€ข Provide a consistent level of technical performance as well as flexibility in workย 
schedule. This position requires periodic overtime and may require regularย 
overtime for extended periods to meet fabrication deadlinesย 
โ€ข Able to complete assignments in accordance with or better than established taskย 
durations as well as estimate task durations to meet assigned deadlines. Providesย 
daily feedback to Project Manager, or Site Superintendent.ย 
โ€ข Able to build and wire custom designs from engineering drawings.ย 
โ€ข Fiber optic cable handling, installation termination and testing.ย 
โ€ข Can print and make minor corrections to cable labels.ย 
โ€ข Maintain an organized work environment specifically orderliness and cleanliness ofย 
the shop and jobsites.ย 
โ€ข Responsible for maintaining their toolkit, company vehicles and installationย 
materials inventories. Keeping things clean, orderly and well documented.ย 
โ€ข Responsible for maintaining their personal licenses, certifications andย 
qualifications. (some states have specific requirement in this area)ย 
โ€ข Maintain daily record of time worked on specific projects for timesheet entry andย 
work performed reportsย 

Complexity:
This level of technician will be responsible for performing tasks on clients job sites with littleย 
supervision. On smaller projects this position may be responsible for the coordination withย 
clients, contractors and subcontractors.ย 

Decision Making Authority:ย 
This position is often alone on the job sites and requires making good judgement aboutย 
decisions that need to be made. In general the project manager and a site supervisor areย 
available to answer questions. This position requires good diplomacy in working with ourย 
clients and other key stakeholders on the job sites.ย 

Physical Working Environment:ย 
Physical Demands:ย 
The physical demands described here are representative of those that may be met by anย 
employee. The employee may be exposed to construction site conditions on a regularย 
basis. Employee will be responsible for their safety while on job sites and to comply with allย 
safety regulations in place by the GC. Use of PPE is usually required on job sites. Theย 
employee can typically spend at least 60% of their time on their feet and be required toย 
mobile around the construction site. The employee must have the ability to occasionallyย 
climb ladders, use stairs and lift and/or move materials up to 40 pounds in constructionย 
areas. The individual is regularly required to use keyboards, test equipment and controlsย 
required for SI installation projects. Specific vision abilities required for this job include closeย 
vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth vision. When not on construction sites,ย 
the employee will experience normal office conditions and be required to use officeย 
equipment such as computers, peripherals, etc.ย 

Travel:ย 
Frequent travel by car and occasional airplane trips are required. Employee must possess aย 
valid driverโ€™s license in their state of residence. Employee will be required to use their ownย 
vehicle and will be reimbursed for mileage at the current corporate rate. Local travel to jobย 
sites (within a 2 hour driving distance each way) will make up 70-90% usually but remoteย 
travel can be up to 30% of the job at times. 10% remote travel is required on a regular basis.ย 
Job Qualifications:
Education/Certifications:ย 
โ€ข High school or GED equalย 
โ€ข AVIXA CTS Certification is desired.ย 
โ€ข 2 years as an associate technician and/or fabrication technician or relatedย 
industry experience.ย 
โ€ข Must have a valid drivers license and adhere to our insurance requirementsย 
โ€ข OSHA 30 Certificate is highly desired. (NYC OSHA30 is desired)ย 
โ€ข Other relevant certifications may be required or preferred based on the technologyย 
focus of the position.ย 
Required/Desired Knowledge, Experience and Skills:ย 
โ€ข Familiarity with a wide range of audio, video and networking equipmentย 
โ€ข Knowledgeable of low voltage electrical conceptsย 
โ€ข Possess basic carpentry and/or installation skillsย 
โ€ข Proficient use and safety with power toolsย 
โ€ข Good verbal communication skills and good customer service skills.ย 
โ€ข Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve technical problemsย
