Litigation Attorney (Contract-to-Hire) – Houston, TX (Hybrid)


Excellent opportunity to join a highly respected litigation team in Houston! This is a full-time, onsite contract position offering a predictable 40-hour workweek with the potential to convert to a permanent role for the right candidate. The team is moving quickly and is seeking an experienced litigator who can make an immediate impact.


Position Overview

A well-established plaintiff-side litigation firm focused on complex wage and hour and employment litigation is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney with 5–10 years of experience. The ideal candidate has a strong litigation background, including experience prosecuting or defending class and collective actions. Familiarity with the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and related state wage and hour laws is highly preferred.


This is an outstanding opportunity to work alongside an accomplished litigation team on sophisticated, high-stakes matters while maintaining a consistent 40-hour workweek.

Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and other legal proceedings.
  • Prepare for and participate in trials and arbitration hearings alongside lead counsel.
  • Draft written discovery, subpoenas, deficiency notices, pleadings, motions, and legal correspondence.
  • Conduct legal research and collaborate with the briefing team on complex legal issues.
  • Analyze applicable statutes, case law, and legal precedent to support litigation strategy.
  • Assist with document review and discovery management.
  • Participate in settlement negotiations, mediations, and settlement conferences.
  • Help manage an active litigation docket from inception through resolution.
  • Mentor junior attorneys and legal staff as needed.


Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active bar license in good standing.
  • 5–10 years of litigation experience.
  • Experience handling depositions and appearing in court for hearings.
  • Trial experience, including evidentiary arguments and direct/cross-examination of witnesses, is preferred.
  • Experience prosecuting or defending class and collective actions.
  • Knowledge of FLSA and state wage and hour laws is a plus.
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency with legal research platforms and litigation software.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a litigation team.
