Job Description

Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for the purpose of supporting the Supervisor of the Practical Nursing Program in the development, implementation, and supervision of the Practical Nursing Program students and staff as well as the essential functions listed below.

Essential Functions
  • Engage in DCIU's Continuous Improvement Process by systematically and continuously monitoring goals to ensure that activities are related to Participate in DCIU work groups to facilitate the attainment of organizational and department goals.
  • Provide strategic recommendations for growth and innovations in the DCIU Practical Nursing Program.
  • Support all components of the practical nursing program including theory presentation, clinical instruction, skills labs and clinical simulation.
  • Support all personnel functions related to staffing (e.g. recruitment, hiring, evaluation and orientation of faculty and support staff to include support of staff development) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing levels as well as improving retention.
  • Create and promote the IU and the PN program for the purpose of maintaining good community relationships.
  • Support the defining, revising, and updating of admissions and graduate standards for students for the purpose of remaining current with DCIU admission policies and standards as well as clinical facility and state standards.
  • Support the systems and workflow of records for the purpose of maintaining information for students, faculty, clinical agencies, and state agencies.
  • Assist in the execution and refining of advertising for the purpose of promoting the program and gain maximum exposure to maintain a student base.
  • Support the formulation of policies and procedures in cooperation with faculty members, legal, human resources, administration, clinical agencies, state regulations, and the accrediting body for the purpose of maintaining compliance with all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Support and track statistics for graduate follow-up studies.
  • Monitor and revise the program for the purpose of keeping the program updated and in compliance with all laws and regulations.
  • Facilitate teams to enhance teaching, learning, and engagement through the development and integration of educational innovations in curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and personalized learning.
  • Challenge and support DCIU teams and our clients to take risks, move at a rapid pace, envision, and create innovative and adaptive learning spaces.
  • Develop and deliver professional development to transform instructional culture and climate in schools to enhance engagement and extend learning beyond the traditional learning framework.
  • Build and promote strategic partnerships between healthcare organizations, community resources, and higher education entities.
  • Demonstrate leadership as a member of a professional learning community by staying current in relevant educational issues through presenting and actively participating in state, local, and national conferences and maintaining active membership in professional educational organizations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge & Skill Requirements

Education Required: Master's degree in nursing with a focus in education (MSN-Ed.)

Certification Required: Related certification for nursing role

Experience Preferred: Five years of classroom teaching in nursing education

Other Qualifications: Oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, strong organizational and time management skills, must use tact and diplomacy, acts as leader on equity issues. Excellent decision-making skills; Ability to relate to and function effectively with people of varying background and position. Ability to communicate effectively and possess a positive and professional attitude toward duties and responsibilities. Evidence of high personal esteem and integrity and the highest level of honesty, trust and business acumen.
