Account Director, Experiential, Sports Marketing – INNOCEAN USA, Huntington Beach, CA

INNOCEAN USA, a full-service ad agency located in sunny Huntington Beach, CA, is seeking an Account Director, Experiential to join our Sports Marketing team!

Our ideal candidate has 7+ years of experience in sports marketing with a proven track record of successful campaigns and partnerships.

We are a hybrid workplace, three days a week in‑office. Candidates must be local to SoCal.

OVERVIEW

As a core member of INNOCEAN’S Experiential Department, the Account Director, Sports Marketing will spearhead the agency’s sports marketing efforts via a cross departmental team to ensure the delivery of experiential and sponsorship marketing projects with high quality service, so that all client needs are met on time, on scope and on budget.

The Account Director, Sports Marketing will assist the Group Vice President and manage multiple sports marketing projects and objectives for the Hyundai Motor North America client. This position will focus on development and implementation of sports marketing strategies and activations. Principal responsibilities include strategic development, partnerships, event and activation management, sponsorship management and insights, analytics and market research.

This individual should be skilled at budget management, tracking and reconciliation. Ability to multi‑task and work both independently and within a team. Possesses the ability to break down complex client problems and issues skillfully to ensure that solutions are appropriately tailored to their needs.

PURPOSE OF ROLE

Responsible for developing, executing and managing comprehensive marketing strategies to enhance brand visibility and drive engagement for the Hyundai brand throughout its existing portfolio of sports properties, leading a collaborative team to achieve business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Strategy Development: Develop and implement overall sports marketing strategies, defining clear objectives, target audiences, and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Sponsorship Management: Manage existing sponsorships and identify potential new opportunities, ensuring contractual obligations are met and maximizing value. Develop POV’s and asset valuations during review of prospective sponsorship opportunities.
  • Athlete and Influencer Partnerships: Identify, recruit, and manage relationships with professional athletes and influencers to create compelling content and promotional campaigns that align with the brand's image and values.
  • Activations: Plan, organize, and oversee brand activations to maximize exposure, coordinating logistics and fan engagement activities.
  • Content Creation and Management: Collaborate with creative and marketing teams to develop impactful content (across social media, video, etc.) and oversee the marketing lifecycle from concept to launch.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Track and analyze campaign performance metrics and data insights to refine strategies.
  • Market Research: Conduct market research to stay current with industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities, using findings to inform strategies.
  • Budget Oversight: Develop, manage, and monitor the sports marketing budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and reporting on performance and ROI for various initiatives.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in sports marketing, brand management, or related roles, with a proven track record of successful campaigns and partnerships.
  • Skills: Strong strategic thinking, leadership, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills are essential. Proficiency in digital marketing, social media platforms, and data analysis is also crucial.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the sports industry, fan engagement tactics, and branding principles is necessary.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%, including weekend travel

The salary range for this role is $130,000 - $135,000. Pay is dependent upon several factors including but not limited to: client, experience, training and/or transferable skills.
