Description:

Imprimus Labels & Packaging is seeking an experienced Ink Technician to join our manufacturing team in Mogadore, Ohio. This position prepares, matches, mixes, and maintains inks used to produce high-quality pressure-sensitive labels.


The ideal candidate has experience working with inks in a flexographic printing or label manufacturing environment and understands the importance of color accuracy, consistency, documentation, and maintaining an organized ink room.


Key Responsibilities
  • Mix and prepare inks according to production specifications and job requirements.
  • Perform color matching and adjust ink to meet approved color standards.
  • Use spectrophotometers and other color measurement tools to verify color accuracy.
  • Work closely with press operators to troubleshoot color and ink-related issues during production.
  • Maintain accurate formulas and records for ink mixes and color matches.
  • Prepare inks for upcoming production jobs to help minimize press downtime.
  • Monitor ink viscosity, pH, and other properties as required.
  • Return, identify, and properly store unused and press-return inks.
  • Maintain ink inventory and notify appropriate personnel when supplies need reordering.
  • Help reduce ink waste through proper mixing, reuse, and inventory management.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organized ink room and work area.
  • Properly label and handle inks, solvents, chemicals, and related materials in accordance with safety procedures.
  • Follow all company quality, safety, environmental, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Communicate effectively with Press, Prepress, Quality, and Production personnel.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Previous ink technician, ink room, color matching, or printing industry experience preferred.
  • Flexographic or pressure-sensitive label printing experience strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of ink mixing and color theory.
  • Ability to accurately match colors and make adjustments based on visual and instrument readings.
  • Experience with spectrophotometers and color measurement equipment is preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow ink formulas, production specifications, and job instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to color consistency and quality.
  • Good math, measurement, and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting a fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move containers of ink and other production materials.
  • Ability to safely handle inks and printing-related chemicals while using required personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment around printing presses and production equipment.
