Job description

Overview
The Molding Process Tech 2 is responsible for supporting, troubleshooting, and maintaining the plant injection molding machines and associated equipment for manufacturing and is expected to be proactive and can perform their work at a prominent level with minimum supervision.
Responsibilities
  • Responsible for following all safety policies in compliance with Rain Bird safety standards and programs.
  • Perform tasks to increase injection molding machine equipment uptime and reliability.
  • Effectively and efficiently perform mold and material changes to meet manufacturing schedule.
  • Perform periodic preventative maintenance tasks on molds, molding machines, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment in support of manufacturing operations.
  • Communicate issues/improvements/ideas between department members and supervision.
  • Trouble shoot quality concerns for root causes and make required process adjustments.
  • Monitor and adjust machine parameters to assure established tolerances and part quality are maintained.
  • Maintain proper documentation to assure lot traceability, process control, and preventative maintenance.
  • Operate mobile equipment such as forklift, scissor lift, overhead crane, powered pallet jacks and mold carts.
  • Function as a "technical leader" for coworkers who have less knowledge and experience in molding.

Qualifications
  • Ability to understand and follow all safety policies and lock out/tag out procedures.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of 3 years injection molding experience including mold-setting and material handling.
  • Knowledge of injection molding processes and familiarity with engineering grade materials.
  • The ability to understand, analyze and adjust molding processes to maintain an elevated level of quality.
  • Able to complete tasks in a timely manner to assure maximum machine run time and high OEE.
  • Familiar with various models of molding machines, robots, and materials.
  • Strong work ethic.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Understanding of scientific molding principles and techniques.
  • RJG- master molder certification.
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering discipline.
  • Experience developing molding processes and robot programs.
  • 5-10 Years experience mold setting of complex tooling including multiple cores, servo drives, and robotics.
