Job description

Injection Molding Process Technician

Location:  Rochester NY 14625

Pay Rate: $30.00/hour on W-2

Duration: 12-months (May get extend)

Schedule: 1st shift

 

Job Description

The Injection Molding Process Technician is responsible for setting up, adjusting, troubleshooting, and maintaining injection molding machines to ensure efficient production of high-quality plastic parts. This position requires strong mechanical aptitude, knowledge of molding processes, and the ability to optimize machine settings while maintaining safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and start various injection molding machines according to production schedules.
  • Install and remove molds, ensuring proper alignment, connections, and safe operation.
  • Adjust machine parameters such as temperature, pressure, speed, and cycle time to achieve optimal production results.
  • Perform first-piece inspections to verify product quality and ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Monitor machine performance throughout production and make necessary process adjustments.
  • Troubleshoot molding, tooling, and process issues to minimize downtime and maintain production efficiency.
  • Identify defects and determine appropriate process adjustments to improve product quality.
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of molds, machines, and related equipment.
  • Verify proper operation of molding equipment before and during production runs.
  • Work with maintenance personnel to address mechanical and equipment-related issues.
  • Maintain accurate production, setup, inspection, and process documentation.
  • Follow established work instructions, standard operating procedures, and production requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety rules, company policies, and manufacturing procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams to resolve process and quality issues.
  • Support continuous improvement activities focused on safety, quality, productivity, and waste reduction.
  • Assist with process optimization and equipment adjustments as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical training in manufacturing, plastics, mechanical technology, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience operating and setting up injection molding machines and tooling is required.
  • 2+ years of injection molding setup, processing, or related manufacturing experience preferred.

 

 

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of injection molding processes and plastic materials.
  • Ability to adjust and optimize machine settings for quality and production efficiency.
  • Understanding of molds, tooling, machine components, and setup procedures.
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot common molding and process problems.
  • Familiarity with robotics, automated equipment, and manufacturing systems is preferred.
  • Ability to read and follow technical instructions, work orders, and production specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to safely handle molds, tooling, materials, and production equipment.
