Injection Molding Maintenance Technician


Micron Solutions is a multifaceted contract manufacturing organization specializing in thermoplastic injection molding, precision machining and finishing, automated assembly, and silver-plated medical sensors for disposable electrodes. We partner with companies of all sizes to deliver manufacturing and assembly solutions that support their success. Our 120,000-square-foot facility in Fitchburg, MA supports projects from concept through commercialization.
Position Summary
Micron Solutions is seeking an experienced Injection Molding Maintenance Technician to support our medical device and contract manufacturing operations. This role is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, maintaining, and improving injection molding presses, auxiliary equipment, robotic systems, and CNC machinery to ensure reliable equipment performance and minimal production downtime.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience maintaining injection molding equipment in a manufacturing environment and possess strong mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical troubleshooting skills.
Injection molding equipment maintenance experience is required.

    Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on injection molding presses, robotic systems, CNC machines, and auxiliary equipment.

  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical issues on manufacturing equipment.

  • Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.

  • Support installation, startup, relocation, and commissioning of manufacturing equipment.

  • Perform repairs and maintenance on material handling equipment, dryers, chillers, thermolators, conveyors, and related systems.

  • Assist in troubleshooting molding process-related equipment issues.

  • Maintain maintenance records, work orders, and equipment documentation.

  • Monitor equipment performance and identify recurring maintenance concerns.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on equipment reliability and operational efficiency.

  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and departmental standards.

  • Support ISO 13485 quality system requirements and documentation practices.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.

  • Work closely with Process Technicians, Production Supervisors, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to support production goals.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications


  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum 3 years of maintenance experience in an injection molding, plastics manufacturing, or industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience maintaining and troubleshooting injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics.
  • Experience performing preventive maintenance and equipment repairs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with the safe use of hand and power tools.
  • Basic computer skills for maintenance documentation and data entry.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.

  • Experience maintaining Engel, Arburg, Sodick, Toyo, or similar injection molding equipment.
  • Experience with robots, automation systems, and end-of-arm tooling.
  • Experience supporting medical device, contract manufacturing, or ISO 13485-regulated environments.
  • Experience maintaining dryers, chillers, thermolators, hot runner systems, conveyors, and material handling systems.
  • Experience with CNC machines and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance software and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Electrical troubleshooting experience, including sensors, relays, motors, and controls.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
