Job Description

The Opportunity

Versant is seeking an Ingest Associate to support fast-moving cable news and digital production workflows in our New Jersey office. This on-site role is responsible for recording, ingesting, routing, quality-checking, organizing, and troubleshooting media assets that support live news coverage, show needs, breaking news, and digital content delivery.

Why This Role Matters: The Ingest Associate helps ensure production teams have timely, accurate, and usable media when deadlines are tight and coverage needs shift quickly. By supporting the intake, conversion, transfer, and quality control of content, this role directly contributes to reliable production operations and the speed, accuracy, and readiness of Versant’s news and digital storytelling.

What You'll Do

  • Schedule and manage recordings for assignment desk feeds, show needs, coverage, stand-ups, pre-tapes, ISOs, and breaking news in a quick-turnaround live news environment.
  • Ingest, transcode, convert, transfer, back up, and organize a variety of media file types across platforms, devices, and delivery systems.
  • Partner with producers, shows, assignment desk teams, and other clients to support media ingest requests and resolve file-based ingest issues.
  • Operate recording and ingest interfaces, verify successful media ingest, and ensure original data is handled appropriately before return or formatting.
  • Perform quality control on incoming footage, including identifying technical issues, troubleshooting problematic formats or codecs, and filing discrepancy reports as needed.
  • Create digital screening exports and gather or import content from tools and sources such as Latakoo, websites, FTP sites, Zoom, Skype, FaceTime, and other online platforms.
Qualifications

What You Bring

  • 3+ years of experience working in a large media market or comparable fast-paced production environment.
  • Strong understanding of production operations, digital media workflows, transcoding, digital file delivery, and media asset handling.
  • Technical fluency across PC and Mac platforms, with the ability to troubleshoot file formats, codecs, ingest issues, and signal-quality concerns.
  • Ability to work effectively in a highly deadline-driven environment with a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs require.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build trusted working relationships with producers, shows, assignment desks, and cross-functional partners.
  • A collaborative approach grounded in Versant’s “How We Do It” behaviors: Trust, by handling media assets accurately and responsibly; Teamwork, by partnering closely with production and editorial teams; Transparency, by communicating issues and filing discrepancy reports clearly; Agility, by adapting quickly to breaking news and shifting priorities; and Entrepreneurial Spirit, by staying curious, self-managing, and learning new technologies.

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with non-linear editing tools, scheduling tools, and digital screening export workflows.
  • Ability to set audio/video levels to spec and verify remote signal quality prior to air.
  • Comfort learning new production technologies and improving day-to-day ingest workflows.

Why You’ll Love It Here

You’ll be part of a production environment where your technical skill, attention to detail, and ability to stay calm under pressure directly support the stories audiences rely on. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with experienced production, editorial, and technical teams while building expertise across modern media ingest and digital delivery workflows.

This role is on-site in New Jersey. The schedule may include nights, weekends, holidays, and other shifts based on business needs.

Employees based in our Englewood Cliffs office have access to a variety of convenient on-site services and amenities, including free employee parking, complimentary electric vehicle charging stations, an on-site fitness center with locker rooms and towel service, and dry-cleaning drop-off and pick-up.
To support an easier commute, shuttle service (subject to schedule) is also available to and from the Englewood Cliffs campus, with pickup locations across Manhattan’s East Side and West Side, Brooklyn, Hoboken, Jersey City, Newark, and Secaucus.
