Overview

We are seeking a skilled Pipe Welder to join our dynamic team. We have open positions from Panama City, FL; Mobile, AL; Pascagoula, MS, to Lockport & Houma, LA. In this role, you will play a crucial part in the fabrication and installation of piping systems in various platforms of maritime vessals across various projects. A Pipe Welder is responsible for performing pipe welding procedures on Stainless Steel and Copper-Nickel pipe using Gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), also known as tungsten inert gas (TIG) welding. The shipyard environment is an around the clock manufacturing setting. Ingalls shipyard production areas at times involve working at different heights, confined spaces, different weather conditions as well as multiple shifts 24 hours a day. As with most every position in the shipyard, a Welder may be required to work either day or night dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Types of metal materials with a variety of welding processes; the most basic of which are, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) also known as "stick weldingโ€ and Flux-Core Arc Welding (FCAW) also known as โ€œwire welding.โ€

Must Have Minimum 4 Yrs. of pipewelding experience Must have experience in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW), also known as Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) welding Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) also known as "stick weldingโ€ Ability to pass military standard X-Ray welding test on stainless steel and copper nickel in the 6G position (restricted)

Ability to pass a military specification welding assessment in the vertical (3G), horizontal (2G) and overhead (4G) positions

  • Pipe welding test is given in a restricted position (6 G) on a 5'' schedule 80 carbon steel pipe
  • GTAW (TIG) process used for root pass, 11018 electrode used for weld fill portion and cap
