Requirements:
DIRECT PATIENT CARE
โ€ข Performs initial and ongoing assessments of patients receiving infusion therapies, identifying needs for immediate and ongoing nursing interventions.
โ€ข Administers infusion therapies, including IV medications, biologics, and specialty infusions in accordance with established policies and protocols.
โ€ข Demonstrates proficiency in venous access, including peripheral IV insertion; experience with central venous catheter, peripheral inserted central catheters (PICC), implanted catheters & ports (Port-a-Cath), and CLABSI (Central Line Associated Blood Stream Infections) required.
โ€ข Monitors patients during infusions for adverse reactions and responds appropriately.
โ€ข Provides patient and family education regarding therapies, side effects, and follow-up care.
โ€ข Documents all aspects of care accurately and in a timely manner in the electronic health record, including patient response to treatment and progression toward treatment goals.
โ€ข Interprets clinical data and promptly communicates significant findings to providers.
โ€ข Seeks clarification from licensed provider when orders are unclear, suboptimal, or inappropriate
โ€ข Ensures compliance with medication administration standards, regulations and organizational policies
INDIRECT PATIENT CARE ACTIVITIES
โ€ข Apply principles of infection control and safety.
โ€ข Assists in the orientation of new personnel.
โ€ข Provides clinical supervision of ancillary staff working in the infusion center.
โ€ข Customer Service: respect, flexibility, knowledge, confidence, professionalism, pleasant attitude, patience and helpfulness. All responses should be timely, professional, caring, and respectful in accordance with BNBMC's Customer Service Performance expectations.
โ€ข Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
โ€ข Notify management of gaps in policies and procedures and participate in creating or modifying policies and procedures to fulfill these gaps.
โ€ข Participates in hospital committees as assigned.
โ€ข Maintains compliance with organizational policies, Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision, and Values.
CARE COORDINATION & PATIENT NAVIGATION
โ€ข Serves as a primary point of contact for patients throughout their infusion therapy journey.
โ€ข Coordinates scheduling of infusion appointments, ensuring optimal utilization of resources and patient convenience.
โ€ข Works closely with providers, pharmacy, patient navigators, insurance authorization specialists and other departments as needed to facilitate timely and appropriate care.
โ€ข Assists with prior authorizations, referrals, and insurance coordination as applicable.
โ€ข Guides patients through treatment plans, addressing questions and barriers to care.
โ€ข Supports continuity of care across outpatient and inpatient settings when applicable.
CUSTOMER SERVICE & PATIENT EXPERIENCE
โ€ข Acts as the "face" of the infusion center, delivering exceptional service with professionalism, empathy, and respect.
โ€ข Establishes rapport with patients and families, fostering a welcoming and supportive environment.
โ€ข Responds to patient needs promptly and effectively, ensuring a positive experience.
โ€ข Demonstrates flexibility, strong communication skills, and a patient-centered approach in all interactions.
SAFETY & COMPLIANCE
โ€ข Ensures infusion equipment and emergency supplies are available and function properly.
โ€ข Reports equipment issues and ensures timely resolution in collaboration with Biomedical Engineering.
โ€ข Adheres to infection control, safety, and regulatory standards specific to infusion services.
โ€ข Assists in data collection and analysis of Quality Assurance/CQI monitors; participate in implementation of follow up action.
Other Duties:
โ€ข Maintains current knowledge of infusion therapy best practices and emerging treatments.
โ€ข Participates in continuing education activities; attends scheduled in-service programs; shares information gained at conferences with colleagues.
โ€ข Responds to emergency situations as assigned.
โ€ข Performs additional duties as required to support medical center operations.
Position Qualifications:

  • Current NJ licensure as RN required.
  • ACLS certification required.
  • IV (e.g. CNRI) or Chemotherapy (e.g. ONS) certification required
  • Minimum of 1year of infusion nursing experience required.
    • For PD Roles minimum 2 years of Med-Surge experience
  • Experience administering transfusions; specialty infusions required; chemotherapy experience strongly preferred.
  • Strong skills in IV access including implanted central venous access devices (Portacath), PICC lines.
  • Experience with patient education and care coordination.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, interdisciplinary teamwork and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a small-team environment.
  • Schedule flexibility required (including extended hours as needed).
Education:
  • BSN required

Salary commensurate with experience within posted range:
$48.82 - $69.09 per hour | Differentials: 10% Evening / 12% Nights / $2.25 per hour weekend
