MANAGER, PLACEMAKING AND BAYVIEW EXPERIENCE 

INVEST OTTAWA – BAYVIEW 


Bayview Yards sits at the center of Ottawa's innovation community. The Manager, Placemaking and Bayview Experience is the person who brings the building to life.

This role owns the tenant experience, the events portfolio, and the day-to-day operations of the site. You will lead a small team, manage licensee relationships directly, develop the placemaking strategy, and partner with the Director on the operational systems that keep everything running well. It is a role with genuine breadth: part people manager, part venue strategist, part community builder — with the autonomy to shape how one of Ottawa's most recognized spaces looks, feels, and functions.


  • Corporate Pay Band D: $76,000-$114,000
  • Hiring Salary Range: $76,000 - $104,500

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING 

    Stakeholder & Tenant Experience

    • Serve as the primary relationship manager and advocate for Bayview Yards licensees and tenants
    • Ensure every guest, tenant, and partner interaction is welcoming, professional, and memorable
    • Draft and manage all new and renewal license agreements; own and maintain the master license agreement
    • Coordinate tours, space showings, and tenant onboarding
    • Resolve tenant and licensee issues with care and responsiveness

    Events & Venue Operations

    • Oversee Bayview Yards' full events portfolio from strategy through to delivery
    • Develop and evaluate event sales strategies, financial forecasts, and budget tracking
    • Manage the Bayview experience budget with accountability for forecasting and expenditures
    • Continuously assess AV and meeting technology needs; explore in-kind partnerships
    • Oversee bookings and space management across the site

    Placemaking & Community Engagement

    • Lead development the development of a placemaking strategy, including art, café operations, and décor
    • Identify creative approaches to community engagement that keep Bayview dynamic and referable
    • Infuse diversity, equity, and inclusion principles into infrastructure, communications, and experience design
    • Collaborate with strategic partners, tenants, and clients on pilots, demos, and new initiatives
    • Serve as primary liaison with the Bayview Yards Marketing Strategist for communications and campaigns

    Team Leadership

    • Directly manage and coach a multi-functional team
    • Partner with the Director on the rollout of digital tools including CRM, project management, and communications platforms



    WHAT YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED/GAINED THROUGHOUT YOUR CAREER : 

    • 5 years of experience leading teams in events, hospitality, venue operations, or a related stakeholder-facing environment
    • Strong relationship-building skills — you're someone people trust and want to work with
    • Comfort managing budgets, financial forecasts, and complex multi-stakeholder priorities
    • A systems mindset: you think in processes and look for ways to make things run more smoothly
    • Genuine curiosity about technology and how it can improve how a team works — you don't need to be a tech expert, but you're comfortable learning new platforms and bringing that comfort to your team
    • An interest in AI and emerging tools as they apply to operations
    • A commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion as a core part of how you lead and design experiences
