The Role

As a Sr. Planning Engineer, Infrastructure Planning you’ll play a critical role in designing and planning network equipment, infrastructure and collocation solutions that enable scalable, future‑ready network expansion for Forged Fiber 37. This role blends strategic thinking with hands‑on planning and network design offering the opportunity to influence long‑term network architecture while partnering closely with engineering and implementation teams to turn plans into reality. Work Location- Hybrid in Denver, CO or Dallas, TX.

Key Responsibilities:

In this role, you will:

  • Design and optimize network architectures and equipment layouts to support scalable fiber network growth

  • Plan, design, and allocate central office and remote collocation space to enable network evolution and migrations

  • Develop clear, build‑ready planning handoff packages for engineering and implementation partners

  • Anticipate and model network capacity requirements using demand forecasts, inventory data, and strategic inputs

  • Perform network analysis to identify optimal architectures that support investment and funding decisions

You will operate as a self‑directed individual contributor, bringing strong technical judgment, clear communication, and a high standard of quality and integrity while collaborating effectively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.

Required Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant experience
  • 3-5+ years experience of PON network equipment design

  • 3-5+ years experience of collocation space planning and design

  • Experience utilizing network inventory tools such as 3GIS, Netbox, and O2

  • Knowledge of Outside Plant and Fiber Optic Cable design principles

  • Preferred knowledge of open access network design concepts and use of ESRI based GIS tools

  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel or equivalent program

  • Work independently with little or no oversight, be able to self-manage their workload and deliver all projects to meet deadlines

  • Strong documentation writing and analytical skills

  • Must be highly adept at collaborating with others, at all levels in the organization

  • Experience with Metro/Ethernet network a plus RSRFF37

Compensation

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

 Location Based Pay Ranges:

$83,000-$138,000 Annually
