The Platform/Infrastructure Engineer (PIE) designs, builds, and maintains the platforms that Mission Partner development teams use to deploy, monitor, and manage applications. The PIE creates a stable, scalable, and efficient integrated development platform that abstracts the complexity of infrastructure, security, and core/microservices to allow tenant developers to deliver software more effectively. The PIE demonstrates experience with DevOps practices delivering Infrastructure as Code (CloudFormation and Terraform), GitLab or Hashicorp, CI/CD (Jenkins), Helm, Docker, Kubernetes and CSPs (AWS, Google) and platforms (Nutanix). The PIE builds and scales internal developer products to build templates with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) focused on efficiency, reliability, and security The PIE blends technical skills in container orchestration, version control, cloud platforms, automation tools, containerization, and scripting utilizing skills and tools such as Python, GitHub, Jenkins, Cloud formation, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and other future architecture requirements. Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  • Manages the IaaS Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) for development, delivery and maintenance of systems/services currently deployed, in development, as well as future release planning

  • Define and implement strategies for availability, latency, performance, efficiency, change management, monitoring, emergency response, and capacity planning

  • Define, develop, and implement scaling methods, tools for logging, monitoring, alerting

  • Develop automation playbook/run rules for auto remediation

  • Develop roadmap activities that support the development of an enhanced system, comprehensive data collection, mitigation strategies to move towards, and development of metrics to drive IT improvements.

  • Deliver Linux (RHEL, Ubuntu, Debian) administration experience, including package management, security hardening, kickstart, and virtualization

  • Deliver Windows server, office (messaging, collaboration, productivity), and update/software management (WSUS, WSSC), AD/DNS, account, and IdAM/Security management

  • Work with the OM and SRE to implement customer best practices for software discrepancy and reporting, issue resolution and operations support to include Tier 2/3 escalation.

Required Skills:

  • Operating Systems: Strong understanding of Linux and/or Windows Server operating systems.

  • Networking: Knowledge of network protocols, routing, and firewall configurations.

  • Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automation.
